Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book. In fact, I already have!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried at one point during the final scenes. The author's words as read by the narrator were enthralling and I truly enjoyed the tale.

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky. In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low. And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war. Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages - not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color.

What would have made Daughter of Smoke and Bone better?

If the author had stuck to telling more of the story without all of the mushy, over-the-top romance inserted all over the place.

Has Daughter of Smoke and Bone turned you off from other books in this genre?

From YA fiction? No. From this series? Yes.

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I ADORE Khristine Hvam. Especially her narration of the "Chronicles of Elantra" series.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Sure. I liked the premise of the story. The interaction between Seraphim and Chimera was an interesting idea, especially since both are considered "fictitious" beings. I also liked the imagined myths explaining the war between the two species.

    Any additional comments?

I wanted to learn more about Akivah and I would have loved more story development. The flashbacks worked well and the author is definitely talented, but one more comment about melting or starlight and I'm going to be sick.
