Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

    Story
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Although I appreciate the talents of Mr. Firth, who narrated this story, I cannot say that I enjoyed it. It belabored every point about love/lust and was frankly, depressing!

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am looking forward to a more upbeat storyline.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Colin Firth couldn't have done a better job of narrating. In fact, his voice was the only reason I continued listening to the bitter end.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The End of the Affair?

I would have told the author to make it a short story.

    Any additional comments?

I have listened to many books from Audible.com and this is the first book that I can truly say I was disappointed in and don't agree with the reviews. Too bad.

One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter? As the homicide investigation ratchets into a frantic statewide search for a missing child, D. D. Warren must partner with former lover Bobby Dodge to break through the blue wall of police brotherhood, seeking to understand the inner workings of a trooper’s mind while also unearthing family secrets.

What made the experience of listening to Love You More the most enjoyable?

This was the first time I have listened to a Lisa Gardner novel. I enjoyed it so much that am going to download another as soon as I am finished with this review. She weaves an incredibly detailed story. I loved that I couldn't guess what was going to happen next nor could I judge any of the characters because my persception of them was ever-changing as the plot unfolded. An excellent listen!!!

What does Kirsten Potter and Katie MacNichol bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrators were both good, however, the person who read for Det. D.D. Warren had a wonderful and commanding voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I Love You More - But you'll never guess how far I'll go to prove it!

    Any additional comments?

Keep up the great works Lisa Gardner!
