"Fantastic"
This book was fantastic, it was a wonderful blend of traditional Faerie elements (Oberon and Titania, Seelie and Unseelie Fae etc.) But also adds some suprisingly modern twists on the folklore. It has a wonderful romance and the characters are interesting and deep. I found it very easy to relate to the main character, a teen girl with typical teen troubles embarking on a fantastic quest and growing as a person. I can't wait for a sequel to come out because I could not stop listening to this one.
"Wonderful"
I really loved this book, it was wonderfully enchanting. This author is very descriptive and it isn't very difficult to picture exactly what she's describing. She also has very interesting and in depth characters without being to overwhelming. I also really liked the resolution at the end.
"Fantastic"
I picked this book up in high school and never finished it for some reason, but this time I couldn't stop listening. I really like how he made his super smart character feel so very relatable. Very interesting story.
"Really Enjoyed It"
I was really captivated by this book. I absolutely love the twist on Welsh mythology and giving mythological characters a new life. I also love how relatable every character is, they all have strengths as well as flaws. Although I did find it really obvious which characters he was going to kill off, it was always the ones you weren't very attached to. I also loved the crossover between Welsh and Native American with a time travel twist, really interesting.
"Very Interesting"
I picked this book because I really like Simon Jones as a narrator but I really liked the book in it's own right. It had a really great historical feeling with just a slight bit of the mystical. Vantrease was really good at really fleshing out all of her characters, although there were a couple that I just wanted to smack sometimes. She also really captured the way classes and social status worked in the dark ages.
"Lighthearted Dark Fantasy"
I have to admit I really loved the lighthearted sillyness of a shoe loving queen of the vampires. I'm personally not a big fan of dark brooding vampires, so this was really a lot of fun.
My only gripe is that it's a little more sexual than I would have liked, not that I mind a little bit but the author can be very explicit which is a little wierd for me since I like to listen to my books at work (with headphones but still...).
Otherwise I'm really enjoying the series and I can't help spending all my credits so I can read the rest of them.
"A pleasure to listen to"
I have to say I really loved this book. I usually read fantasy and I have a passion for fairy tales. I'm not sure what lead me to this book but I'm really glad I got it.
I was a little worried at first about how I would be able to follow a book with so many twists and turns and points of view, but this author is a master storyteller and I was enthralled from the very start.
The narrators voice is very pleasant and I had no trouble distinguishing between the characters. I'm sad now that I am finished, but look forward to reading more books by this author.
