For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Lore says: "Book 1 of a great series that is not to be missed!"
    "Great Book"
    Overall

I normally do not read this type of book, but took a chance at the insistence of a friend. It iwas worth it. This is a detailed and entertaining story with very real characters and a terrific plot. Well worth a credit. I will be reading Book 2 in the series.

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

    "Love this series!!"
    Overall

The new "fever" book is fabulous! It picks up right where the last book left off and was as entertaining and unpredictable as ever. The narrorators are the same as the previous audiobook versions and of course did a wonderful job. Definately worth your credit.

Britain’s high society—le bon ton—loves nothing more than a good scandal, and they’re giddy with the appearance of wealthy Samuel Hartley. Not only is he self-made, American, and in the habit of wearing moccasins, but he is also notorious for fleeing a battle in which several English gentlemen lost their lives. Lady Emeline Gordon is captivated by Samuel. Not only does he defy convention with his unusual dress, his sensual smile, and his forthright manner, but he survived the battle that killed her beloved brother.

    Cathie says: "Loved It"

    Overall

This is a great book and well worth your time and credit. The narrorator was not perfect, but darned good. The character, Samual Hartley is fun becasue of the way he lives life on his own terms and how he takes what he wants. He also makes me proud to be a "Yank".

Why we think it’s a great listen: A performance so poignant, we gave Bronson Pinchot (yes, Balki from Perfect Strangers) our inaugural Narrator of the Year award.... In the monsoon season of 1968-69 at a fire support base called Matterhorn, located in the remote mountains of Vietnam, a young and ambitious Marine lieutenant wants to command a company to further his civilian political ambitions. But two people stand in his way.

    Zachary says: "Matterhorn"
"Unlike Anything I Have Read (Listened To) Before"
    Overall

This story is honest, with realistic characters. It does not hide the truth of the war experience, much like many current missives about the Viet Nam war. I cannot describe the impact this story had on my emotions, as well as my view of courage, and a man's abilty to endure. The story portrays the human condition at its best and its worst. There it is.

  • Soulless: An Alexia Tarabotti Novel

Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

Pamela I Greene says: "Amelia Peabody has competition"
    "Fun, Original, and Sassy"
    Overall

The main character is great and not a damsel in distress...how refreshing! There are twists and turns and you can't help but root for the good guys. Narrorator did well 80% of the time. A sequell would be great.

Her troubled sister is the mother and, according to Ella, Jack Travis is the father. The story is fresh and the characters were great. Delving deeper into the Travis family is fun. Narroration was good, but the male voices sometimes resembled each other a little too closely.

Live fast, fight hard, and if you have to die, then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo, and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now, in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.
