Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, between the world of the Broken (where people drive cars, shop at Wal-Mart, and magic is a fairy tale) and the Weird (where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny). Only Edgers like Rose can easily travel from one world to the next, but they never truly belong in either.

Brilliant start. Really, brilliantly engaging and hooky. Loved the narrator's grasp of the characters' voices with the exception of the villain. Huh? Really? The husband/wife team did a great job with everything except the villain. His motivation was sketchy and underdeveloped. I didn't understand the "why" of it all. Loved Declan but got tired of his "broad shoulders" and "green eyes". Found his elven description with long gold hair at the beginning of the book much more engaging - and more interesting. The villain's motivation was never clear. WHY did he feel the need to come to the Edge? Surely he could have found more magic to consume in the Wierd, no? I listened to the book twice and could never understand his motivation. Besides, the narrator made him sound like a complete puss. "I just want a taste of the boy...hmmm...?"
    Please!
Love the world, love the unique concept, and love most of the characters. Just make the villain a true villain and you've got a movie deal!

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori. Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

"Fallen" accurately describes my hopes and expectations for this book. I was disappointed to find the blurb and the cover art much better than the actual story.

This is the last Kresley Cole book I will purchase. Mr. Petkoff did very well for what he was given. Honestly, this book should be listed as erotic romance not paranormal romance. The plot was minimal, at best and the characters unlikable. I like a hot romance, but this became an anatomy lesson. Her best book was her first: A Hunger Like No Other. Hot love scenes and a great story. My suggestion - change the classification to erotica. Lothaire is NOT paranormal romance.

The author is a genius with her use of imagery and setting. I found the storyline very fresh, the characters believable, and the ending a heart-stopper! Ms. Kellgren caught the character's personalities perfectly...especially the eight year-old girl. Does an eight year-old whine and throw temper tantrums? Any parent will tell you that yes she does. Ms. Kellgren got it spot on. I love this book so much I purchased it for my NOOK and have ordered the hard back. Can't wait for the next installment!

How DOES Jim Butcher come up with all these wonderful story lines? I really, really enjoyed Ghost Story. Found the writing fresh and couldn't turn off the ipod! Many had a problem with the narrator but not I. I found John Glover refreshingly understated - sorry, Mr. Marsters! - and not so over-the-top. That was a credit well-spent. Two thumbs up!

Sister Evangeline was just a girl when her father entrusted her to the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. Now, at 23, her discovery of a 1943 letter from the famous philanthropist Abigail Rockefeller to the late mother superior of Saint Rose Convent plunges Evangeline into a secret history that stretches back a thousand years: an ancient conflict between the Society of Angelologists and the monstrously beautiful descendants of angels and humans.

"Too much story for the author"
    Overall

How does a weak human escape from a super strong immortal who can easily break said human into half?
Why, just grab the angel's wings and give 'em a gentle tug.
    Really?
Immortal, super powerful ANGELIC beings that are actually weak with their tissue-paper thin "achilles' heels" that easily cut them down.
    *Sigh*
I listened to the preachy lecturing for two solid days because the author had hooked me with her tantalizingly fresh idea of angels and nephelim. Great story idea, but it was way too much story for this author's ability.
Oy, the lecturing went on and on until I was ready to scream. And in the end, when the heroine was caught in a swarm of enemy angels, she walked away from danger while her enemies did nothing to stop her. They ignored her. No fight, no nothing... she just walked away as if hundreds of enemy angels couldn't see her.
    Crazy.
    Unbelievable.
    Cheap and disgusting.
I listened to the rest of the book because I had stuck with it to that point but I will not buy her next installment. Like I said before, it was too much story for this author.

For a thousand dollars, Jude will become the proud owner of a dead man's suit, said to be haunted by a restless spirit. But what UPS delivers to his door in a black heart-shaped box is no imaginary or metaphorical ghost. It's the real thing.

Joe Hill is a genius in ramping up suspence and flat-out terror. I listened to Heart-Shaped Box non stop to the end. No sleepy...which especially sucked the next day at work.I actually purchased the hard copy of the book (Print) to study Hill's techniques. Loved, loved, loved it. I still have nightmares...oooh, soo good!

Peter V. Brett deserves all the praises he's received from his first novel: the Warded Man.
His work is unique and well thought out. I purchased both books and enjoyed them equally well. But...as an author, it was very evident to me that the story was written by a man for men. Sorry.
No true offense meant to the author or fans, but read the books again before you lambaste me and my review.
Recently I've purchased many books penned by men and have noticed one similarity: the menfolk cannot write romance.
    Or sex scenes.
    Sorry.
Really, I like the books and the characters, but the romantic elements are lacking. I'm left cold, feeling like I'd just had a one night stand with a typical jock jackass who was more interested in making notches on his belt than connecting with me on an emotional level. Hmm, but then Arlen was ready to commit at the end of the second book, wasn't he?
My suggestion? If you're planning to write strong romantic elements into the series then I suggest you consult with a member of the RWA (Romance Writers of America) to make sure you get it right.

September. A beautiful New York editor retreats to a lonely cabin on a hill in the quiet Maine beach town of Dead River - off season - awaiting her sister and friends. Nearby, a savage human family with a taste for flesh lurks in the darkening woods, watching, waiting for the moon to rise and night to fall.

I now understand why Jack Ketchum's "Off Season" is a classic.
Mr. Ketchum is a master of setting a scene. He is also expert in building tension and conflict.
The story was gruesome...deliciously so. His writing...genius.
I will listen to it again.
    And again.

    Overall

Sadly, the blurb was more engaging than the book. After a solid hour and a half of repetitive, irritating backstory on virtually every character who crossed the page, I turned my MP3 off in disgust. I understand this was a sophomore book for Ms.Kenyon, but she really should have taken the time to clean up the sophomore errors. I would not recommend this book unless you suffer from insomnia. It's sure to put you to sleep.
