I'm a mid level manager at a Fortune 100 company, and I enjoyed this listen. I'm not sure how practical it was as the target audience for actually doing any of these things is C-suite level, but I've always wondered why companies like Circuit City, Motorola, etc that were profiled in "Good to Great" failed. This does a nice job breaking down the stages of companies headed for the brink.
This is like a dissertation on the mob, it has too many facts and figures and is not a compelling enough story.
I loved Jimmy Connors as a player, but found him less likable as a person after listening to this. Contrast the story with Andre Agassi's, who I grew to like more.........left me a bit disappointed.
The first 5 hours are about the authors life, not the killing of Osama Bin Laden. Took too long to get to the part I wanted to hear about.
The narrator did a great job making the story come to life.
It was just so long, and ultimately the half dozen interesting parts could not offset the dozens of boring parts. I found myself dozing as I listened.
I kept wanting to like it, but it took too long for far too few nuggets I could take away. Maybe I'm too much of a simpleton.
Interesting recap, but I probably should have gotten the "unabridged" version as some of the depth and complexity of these relationships was "glossed over."
Let's face it.........this guy (Bonhoeffer) was an amazing guy, and lived a life that seems like a 20th century Paul. However, for me the story lacked any great mystery, or thrill. Perhaps it was knowing that he would die, but I don't know...........I found myself desperate to finish this book due to its length.
Love Donald Miller................very inspirational, has led to changes in my life. The way he shares his "story" and encourages us to consider our "story" was great. I need to find more from this guy.
What a great recap on one of the great financial crisises my generation will ever see (hopefully).
I found parts of this book interesting and practical for every day living (including driving change on the home front), but I found much of the build up to the point to be tedious. Far too much ground to cover for few too many nuggets.
