I believe this was my first alternative history novel. At first I thought the concept interesting and believed it would be very entertaining. I now have decided it wasn't that enjoyable and it isn't likely that I will buy the second in the series. I found myself second guessing and disagreeing with the authors. The narration was excellent.
I'm a Tom Clancy fan but this one is just plain boring. It is around 26 hours in length but you have to struggle through 23 hours of rambling and repetition before it gets the least bit interesting. I have the book but could remember very little about it. Now I know why.
This book should have a special tribute to Murphy. If anything can possible go wrong, it does. It is almost depressing. I enjoy books that are uplifting and make me feel good; this one is the opposite. I'm only about 17 hours into the book and I'm just not sure if I can stick it out.
I always read the reviews, if available, before I download a book. This turned out just like the reviews said it would. If you're an Al Gore fan and believe global warming is confirmed science you will rate this as a single star because you can't go any lower. If you are suspicious of the traditional take on global warming you may actually enjoy this book. My five stars is in part just because the author takes the issue head on.
I've read most of Grisham's novels and would place Runaway Jury just about at the bottom. Boring.
The unabridged length of the book was close to 30 hours and I was skeptical if I could endure. The overview looked interesting and I decided to give it a shot. I should have left the book in the undecided category. Too long and too boring.
