As a young kid growing up in a farm town, Ross Mathews might as well have wished for a pet unicorn or a calorie-free cookie tree to grow in his front yard. Either of those far-fetched fantasies would have been more likely to come true than his real dream: working in television in Hollywood, California. Seriously, that stuff just doesn't happen to people like Ross. But guess what. It totally did.

I'm a big Ross Mathew's fan, so I had huge expectations for this book. To be honest, in the beginning I thought it would be funnier than it actually was, however, you kinda get into another dimension and it seems you're living his life along with him. He's THAT good telling his story. I usually listen to audio books on my way to work and back, which means about 45 minutes of listening a day. In spite of that, I somehow managed to listen to this book in two days. That's right: TWO days!!! I couldn't get enough of it. Every free second I had I used to listen to the book - even while taking showers. When I realised I was getting to the end of the book I couldn't believe it. I looked at the app in my phone and checked, and checked again, and checked again. I wasn't even done with it yet, but I felt a hole inside because I knew I only had 30 more minutes of Ross.

If you like Ross, you don't even have to be a big fan, you're going to LOVE this book. The way he tells it is just beautiful and his story is truly lovely. My favorite part was definetely the one he talks about his Mom and about being gay. What an exquisite way to write about such a delicate topic. Plus, this is definetely a book to be heard!!!!! Ross is the best!

Buy the book. You won't regret it!!!!

She is one of the most recognizable women of our time. America knows Jane Fonda as an actress and an activist, a feminist and a wife, a workout guru and a role model. Now, in this extraordinary memoir, Fonda reveals that she is so much more. From her youth among Hollywood's elite and her early film career to the challenges and triumphs of her life today, Jane Fonda reveals intimate details and universal truths.

I'm 26 years old, so I didn't know much about Jane Fonda. It was only when I read the reviews for the book that I found out all the controversy around her and her involvement in the Vietnam War. So for me this was an autobiography - and that's all.

I couldn't believe how naked she allowed herself to be in this book, and how honest it is. The first act made me so emotional I started to feel everything she described, and I couldn't wait to get it over with (although I enjoyed every second of it) I was suffering along with her.

The second act was a history class for me. It made me interested in the Vietnam war and I later researched and wanted to know more about it. Plus, her narration is wonderful, just wonderful! I don't really know how to describe it, because at the same time it seemed like a lullaby but also like she was right there with me, looking into my eyes and telling me her story with such intensity! It was just perfect!

The third act left me with that "give me more" taste... I do hope she writes another book. This one is enlightening and just a big life lesson.

I LOVED it! There's not really much more I can say.

In this frank and funny memoir, the Tony Award-winning star of stage and screen shares her journey from small-town Oklahoma to big-time Broadway, vamping on what it takes to stand firmly on a foundation of family and faith while wearing a hot pair of Jimmy Choo platform sling-backs.

Thank you Kristin Chenoweth for this amazing gift. She tells the story in a way that is all her own, her voice is soft, yet not at all boring, her wit is great, not overwhelming. If you are in doubt, think no more. This book was one of the best books I've heard from audible. Congratulations Kristin for writing it and reading it so marvelously!!!

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

Warren says: "Tina Fey broke my new SUV"
    "WONDERFUL!!"

Tina Fey is absolutely fantastic both reading and writing this book. If you're thinking about buying it, do not hesitate, it's totally worth it.

Churchill's history of the Second World War is, and will remain, the definitive work. Lucid, dramatic, remarkable for its breadth and sweep and for its sense of personal involvement, it is universally acknowledged as a magnificent reconstruction.

John M says: "Brilliant! Only Churchill could have done this."
    "Unbelievably boring!!!"
    Overall

The book is not great, but the narration is just awful! The guy speaks in a monotone voice, you can barely understand. At first I tried listening to it in the car on my way to school, but it made me sleepy and I couldn't understand a thing. Tried listening to it at home. More snoozing. Do not buy this book!!!!!!!

Why we think it’s a great listen: There’s no gentle way to put this – Frank McCourt’s performance of Angela’s Ashes is just better than the Pulitzer Prize-winning book. Frank McCourt shares his sometimes heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking story of growing up poor, Irish, and Catholic in the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela's Ashes.

Karen says: "A classic book *and* a classic audiobook"
"A book that speaks to the reader's soul."
    Overall

This book totally blew me away. It seemed as if the sweetness of Frank McCourt's voice had enchanted me and I couldn't get enough of it. The story is beautifully written and it'll make you cry and laugh, sometimes both at the same time. A wonderful book read in a soothing, yet not at all boring voice - you'll just eat it up. Kudos to the late Frank McCourt for the lovely story and narration.

Listen as Frank tells in his own inimitable voice his story of how at the age of 19 he traveled from Limerick to New York in pursuit of the American dream. Despite the abundance of unsolicited advice he gets to "join the cops" and "stick to his own kind", Frank knows that he should educate himself and somehow rise above his circumstances.

Stanley says: "A second delightful helping"
    "Expected more."

I loved Frank McCourt's "Angela's Ashes", so I bought this one. To my surprise, it wasn't so good. I sometimes missed the thread of the story and where the author was going with it. I'd think about it twice before buying it. Especially if you've heard "Angela's Ashes".

Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

    Joseph says: "A storyteller's story"
    "AMAZING!! Totally worthwhile!"
    Overall

The story is wonderful and so lovely, and the author's narration is beyond breathtaking. I cried and I laughed, and I longed for when I could listen to him and his story again. There is no chance you won't fall in love with Amir and the complexity of his character and story. Buy this book!!!! You won't regret it!
