After Alison Temple discovers that her husband is cheating on her, she does what any jilted woman would do: She spray-paints a nasty message for him on her wedding dress and takes a job with the detective firm that found him out. Being a researcher at the all-female Fitzgerald’s Bureau of Investigation in London is certainly a change of pace from her previous life, especially considering the characters Alison meets in the line of duty.

I would like to say I loved this book but unfortunately it didn't seem to have much plot. I enjoyed listening to the narrator, and I know that the story line moved along. The characters were engaging but the story was rather boring. You should still listen to it but I wonder if something in the story somehow just eluded me along the way.

In a world full of willing women, I'm a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He's the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor-thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.

    Story

Although I am not happy about it, some authors have decided to divide one story into three books. However, Bromberg ends book one before any pieces of the plot come together. The cliffhanger ends book 1 in the middle of a conflict .
Rylee has been surviving after a big loss. In the story, she meets a gorgeous, self confident man to whom she feels an attraction for the first time in ages. Colton Donavan has issues of his own that prevent him from participating in more than a one night stand or a fling type relationship.
During their first encounter, they both feel the chemistry. However, chemistry or not, Rylee keeps getting her emotions shattered by Colton. Why would she do that?
If cliffhangers are your thing, the writing is good, the narrator is good, and you will enjoy the series. However, cliffhangers are not for me - even though at the end of book three, I know- well I am almost sure - everything will wrap up into happily ever after.

Stefano Leone is closing in on one of the most dangerous mobsters on earth. He's surrounded by armed men, his life under constant threat. He's not had time for sex in years, let alone love. A beautiful American woman, however, slips right under his guard, into his bed and his heart. But does she truly want Stefano? Or has she been sent to seduce him - or worse? Designer Jamie McIntyre is on a working vacation in Palermo, Sicily, soaking up the sunshine and the art, trying to contact a former law student of her grandfather's. She's thinking "nerd in a suit."

    Story

An American - gorgeous of course- travels to southern Italy where she meets a gorgeous Italian lawyer at the behest of her grandfather who asks her to deliver a gift.

Stefano's life is structured around an all-encompassing work task. His situation adds to the story line - it is a bit different than the typical workaholic.

A lot of the story is their whirlwind affair - in Lisa Marie Rice style where the women climax almost instantaneously and men show their feelings for their leading ladies by needing to orgasm so badly that foreplay is not possible!

In my mind, the Italian rates 4 stars for very good, instead of just "good" due to the plot. Stefano's life is not typical as I wrote above. In addition, Jamie - the American - faces a life & death dilemma - which I feel that Rice described well.

I bought this book as it is a "happily-ever-after" book without too much suspense - just the listen I needed at the time.

    Story

I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks over the past few years. I read the review of Rules of Engagement at Goodreads and maybe some Audible listener reviews. I must disagree with all reviews. The story starts off with an uptight lawyer, Vanessa, with MAJOR control issues who arrives in Hawaii for her best friend, Lucy's wedding. Lucy's brother Joe arrives late to collect her and Vanessa harangues him about his tardiness and is THEN upset that he wants to carry one of her bags to his car. She has never even met this guy before.
    The narration is monotone.
    I quit at this point.
Presumedly, beautiful Vanessa is going to get it on with the gorgeous Joe. But really, why would laid back Joe want to have sex with an uptight control freak. I can suspend belief when necessary but really...monotone narration and Vanessa's character makes Rules of Engagement over the top.

Assistant D.A. Alexandra Cooper is deeply involved in a complicated, high-profile homicide case against defendant Brendan Quillian, a prominent young businessman who is charged with the strangulation of his beautiful young wife. His conviction is not a certainty: Quillian was conveniently out of town on the day of the killing, and his defense attorney seems to be one step ahead of Cooper's effort to prove Quillian paid a hit man to commit the crime.

Stacy Justice is your average small-town reporter...who just so happens to be a witch. She’s never had the time or patience to mess around with the magic her grandmother and great-aunts are into, even though Grandma says Stacy has a higher calling. Right now, Stacy has stories to cover, her cousin Cinnamon’s bar to help run, and her cute cop boyfriend and flatulent Great Dane to keep her company. But when someone sets Cinnamon’s bar ablaze - almost killing Stacy in the process - the green-eyed redhead will have to embrace her inner witch after all.

I enjoyed this book and have since listened to book two. This tale is easy to listen and has enough story-line to keep me keen to return to find out what happens. Stacy Justice and her faithful Great Dane work to solve a mystery when her cousin's bar is burned down. Stacy lives in a small town with colourful friends, family, and neighbours.

Professor Joshua Kingston thought he'd found the perfect nanny for his son. But once Cassie Simmons stepped into his life, she turned it upside down! His son no longer played by the rules - and Cassie kept making up new ones. He would fire her - if he didn't find her so utterly enticing. Cassie had a huge secret to hide, and she couldn't afford to lose her new job. But her handsome employer wasn't making things easy. All those silly rules. How was an eight-year-old boy supposed to have any fun? The professor definitely needed a lesson in laughter - and love!

Nanny and the Professor is not very original. I should have known better. A run-of-the-mill romance. Cassie, a nanny, moves in and the small Kingston family flourishes. Cassie's relationship to Eric adds a bit of a surprise. A lightweight happily-ever-after story.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

Jake Sullivan is an ex-con turned detective and shafted by J Edgar Hoover. He has the power to bend gravity. I think he is the main character. However, it is hard to be sure as there are so many people introduced into the story that I found it difficult to keep them all straight. Their lives intersect but by that time there are many names floating around in my head.
I like Faye and her grandfather - both able to travel from place to place. This is the first of an as-of-yet two book series - with a third on the way.

Vampire bounty hunter Morgan Bailey needs a break. A girl can handle only so much drama - and her latest assignments have definitely brought the drama. So when her boss mentions an assignment in London, Morgan jumps at the chance to get back to her roots and do what she does best: a good old-fashioned vamp hunt. She should have known better.

Burke Winslow stands at the altar, ready to marry his business partner in a marriage of convenience. The minister solemnly asks: "If anyone here knows why this man and this woman shouldn't be joined in holy matrimony, let him speak now or forever hold his peace." A rain-soaked, bedraggled Ally Fletcher limps down the aisle and shouts, "Stop the wedding!" What follows is a funny, sexy romp that proves when there's love, passion never dies, it just smolders away until you toss some gasoline on it.

I like happily-ever-after books. I do. The title gives this away. I am not revealing secrets. The start of the book is engaging. However, Ally does not seem to have matured much from her first wedding days. So why would Burke find her to be "still the one"? The narrator does a good job. The grandparents prove to be entertaining.
