Edith Hahn was an outspoken young woman in Vienna when the Gestapo forced her into a ghetto and then into a slave labor camp. When she returned home months later, she knew she would become a hunted woman, so she went underground.

Well narrated, fascinating story from a woman's point of view. Educational and inspiring.

Past midnight, Chyna Shepherd, 26, gazed out a moonlit window, unable to sleep on her first night in the Napa Valley home of her best friend's family. Instinct proves reliable. A murderous sociopath, Edgler Forman Vess, has entered the house, intent on killing everyone inside. A self-proclaimed "homicidal adventurer", Vess lives only to satisfy all appetites as they arise, to immerse himself in sensation, to live without fear, remorse, or limits, to live with intensity.

Connie says: "One of the best Koontz Books!"
    "bad book; great narrator"
    Overall

This book is one long chase scene and manages to bore despite the villain's gory crimes. The narration is superb, and I hope we hear more from her. The author should slow down!

July 2005. In the Pyrenees mountains near Carcassonne, Alice, a volunteer at an archaeological dig stumbles into a cave and makes a startling discovery: two crumbling skeletons, strange writings on the walls, and the pattern of a labyrinth; between the skeletons, a stone ring, and a small leather bag.

    Sara says: "Terrible Listening Experience"
"solid mix of history and their story"
    Overall

Excellent narration and accurate history more than compensate for an only-slightly weak plot of the girl in the 1200s. The character of the present-day archaeologist is believable and the story draws the reader to investigate present-day Carcassonne.
