Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

Would you consider the audio edition of The End of the Affair to be better than the print version?

Probably, because Colin Firth was great. But I haven't read it yet.

Would you be willing to try another book from Graham Greene? Why or why not?

I didn't like the ending very much. It was rather disappointing. So I probably will not try another.

Which character – as performed by Colin Firth – was your favorite?

    None

If you could rename The End of the Affair, what would you call it?

    Lost Way to Heaven

    Any additional comments?

I want to commend that your audio books are an excellent way to learn English. You might want to target at huge number of English learners in Japan. By the way I love Jane Austen and I've purchased many of her books, which I might be able to write a better review of.

Based in part on Dickens's own life, it is the story of a young man's journey from an unhappy and impoverished childhood to the discovery of his vocation as a successful novelist. Among its gloriously vivid cast of characters, he e.ncounters his tyrannical stepfather, Mr. Murdstone; his formidable aunt, Betsey Trotwood; the eternally humble yet treacherous Uriah Heep; the frivolous, enchanting Dora; and one of literature's great comic creations, the magnificently impecunious Mr. Micawber.

If you could sum up David Copperfield in three words, what would they be?

    honesty, faith and humor

What other book might you compare David Copperfield to and why?

    Anne of Green Gables series

    Which scene was your favorite?

the journey the little Copperfield took to his aunt in order to find a better life and meeting all sorts of strange people

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were many moments which moved me, but if I chose that was the serene scenery that I saw through the eyes of the boy David Copperfield.

    Any additional comments?

I thought the reading by Mr Simon Vance was so good. One of the very bests. He should be acknowledged and praised.

The story tells simply that good people flourish and bad people get punished. It is nice to see how that happens even in a fiction.
