I thought this writer did a good job with introducing a twist in P/R. The narration at times was really good, then had trouble with changing pace to often, so the timing of humor and action seemed off. The thing that was a maddening distraction what the fact that the mysterious male hero started with a great russian accent, then mid conversation would have an english accent, then an American one. After a short time couldn't tell the difference between characters. The male characters personality really left a lot to be desired. He started with promise, then just fizzled out! Very distracting. Oh well...
I keep trying to get back to this one. I think the story may be there, but I think I will have to purchase the hard copy to know for sure.
This narrator is best suited for story time with toddlers. I just can't listed without getting mad that no one actually speaks like thais. Overacting....yes.
I still cant get through it so I guess I'll return the title. Thanks for that ability Audible!!!!!
I have had an attachment to Dark Hunter characters, as well as others from this author. I just have to say that with the increase in violent sexual, physical, and psychological torture of children, At first I was sympathetic to the story in every way, but I am no longer able to enjoy the books any longer. Styxx, and Darling's detailed, and repetitive dialog visiting these issues has just sucked the magic right out of these stories right along with the witty banter which has all but vanished.
I feel as though the author may be exorcizing some demons she, or someone she knows has suffered. Suffering of this kind deserves a voice, but now that it is the primary theme of all the books, I can no longer spend my money on it. The stories are all sounding the same, and tend to drone on, and on. There is no entertainment value for me in this anymore.
This narrators performance is flawless. I don't know how he can keep getting through this constant content so perfectly. Bravo!
Please bring the action and fun back!
This could have been a good one. It had potential, but that potential along with my credit withered away. I just got so frustrated with the narrators droning on and on, with the characters making no real sense, and with the authors depressing, endless misery she kept doling out. I had to stop listening.
Please don't waste a credit, and please don't encourage any YA reader to either.
I must say that Faith Hunter and Khristine Hvam are like the Dynamic Duo! They NEVER disappoint. Book after book I am drawn in. I am always looking for the next one. This is audio book entertainment at it's finest.
Don't miss out on this series. you will not regret the credit spent!
This author seems to have tapped into interesting new concept for YA para/novella. The door is wide open for a long series, with colorful characters. There are a few holes in the ground work, but they may be filled in as the series progresses.
This narrator really brought out the color of the main characters. I loved the ease with which she used to make the banter between the characters witty and fun. Very realistic inflection, and tone.I really enjoyed her performance.
I'm glad I took a chance and spent a credit on this one.
This story has so many messages in it that I just don't feel a movie could convey them all.To be fair, I have not seen the movie yet, but we all know the feeling that half the book gets left off the screen unless we are watching Lord of the Rings.
This is a story of character, tolerance, forgiveness, redemption, and paradigm shifts. Not a great deal of action, just some. (not as the movie trailers would suggest, unless they rewrote the book)
Overall, a really good listen. the narrator did a remarkable job. The author went for a serious plot with a lot of great ideas and concepts. Very entertaining. Worth a credit? Yes.
I can't wait for the next one! Totally worth the credit. Totally worth the time. Totally worth all the stuff I didn't do because I just could not stop listening!
Great characters, great plot, exciting and fun. This is definitely a series I will continue to follow. Narration is spot on. This is a twist on the old para standard!
Refreshing, totally unbound, well narrated, and just completely worth it! I quickly bought book 2 ( just couldn't wait for more credits to be added, I paid anyway) I am holding my breath for the next addition. I can't wait to see where this author goes with this!
