In her best-selling Amelia Peabody mysteries, author Elizabeth Peters has created an award-winning mixture of vivid archeological detail, finely-tuned suspense, and witty romance. This, the 12th Amelia Peabody mystery, opens in 1914. As the tides of war rise, Egypt is threatened by attacks. Espionage abounds, pulling in several members of the Peabody Emerson household even as they embark on a new archeological season.

No disappointment in this book. The characters are continuously growing and the younger members of the family are following in Amelia's footsteps. The readers voice too is aging which is appropriate. The additional manuscripts from Ramses and Nephret shed a lot of detail to the story. The only disappointment is that Audible has chosen not to carry the unabridged versions of the next 3 books, and they ARE available. Too bad, I won't waste money on abridged versions.

A small town in North Carolina is shaken when an 11-year-old girl is brutally murdered. In this crime, forensic pathologist Kay Scarpetta sees eerie and disturbing echoes of a serial killer's work. Her investigation will lead her to a macabre research facility and into a truly horrifying world. New York Times best-selling author Patricia Cornwell fills this novel with knife-edged suspense.

This recording demands a review. I usually just enjoy, BUT! I have the first abridged recording of The Body Farm and was thrilled to see it come out unabridged. Really looked forward to hearing the whole book. What a mistake and what a waste of a book credit. The story deserves a five star rating along with all of Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta stories. The narration doesn?t even merit one star. There are more than few bad narrators out there, but this is the first time I just cannot stand listening to the entire story. Each sentence read without any connection to the previous or next sentence, long, LONG, pauses between and sometimes in the middle of sentences, audible deep gasps for breath, and a total lack of appropriate emphasis and emotion. I?m sorry, but this reading never should have been published.
