"Not very humorous."
Must be the british humor, but there werent many scenes that actually made me laugh. Could barely finish the story, couldnt believe it had gotten so many good reviews calling it a comedy.
"a fun listen"
if you like the stephanie plum series by j. evanovich - you should love this series. the narrator is wonderful.
"Very disappointing, couldn't even finish it."
I loved the first two books, even with the monotone reader. The third book seemed like a different author with the same setting. I only have one hour left to finish, and I don't care enough to listen to it. It couldn't keep my attention. I miss the old style (the journal entries). The third book is more of a military novel that follows several different but related story lines. I would not recommend this book, even to die hard fans of the first two books. Just google it and read a summary of the novel. I am extremely disappointed in this book, I was so looking forward to listening to it.
"Very good, not as good as the first though."
There was a lot of politics involved in this issue, i don't know if these are the authors beliefs also, I don't think that this detracted from the story though. Would have to say that the political beliefs stated in the book were by the "evil" villains who wanted to rule the world. I thought it was quite appropriate that those beliefs stated were held by the people who wanted to destroy the world for their own gain. The beliefs weren't stated in a way that implied they were the correct ones, or even held by decent people. I only mention this because several other reviews stated that the political views turned them off from the story. Great story line.
"Great story, but narration was awful."
Very monotone voice. Previous narrators were great, shouldn't have switched. There is no difference in any of the voices. I have re-listened to all of the series, I won't be on this one.
Great story for fans, afraid the narration will scare new listeners from the series.
"Really great story, poor narrator."
The story itself is very interesting, hard to listen to the narrator. It is suppose to be a fifteen year old, but sounds like he is in thirties ( at least ). The reader is monotone, with an odd speaking pattern (think Terminator crossed with the Twilight Zone speaker). I really wish they would redo the audiobook with another reader.
Never.
Yes, even with the awful narration
"Overall a very good book."
Was a good book, enjoy the series. Parts of it are started to get old, it seems most of the conversations with the police are exactly the same as other books. Whoever wrote the book summary apparently didn't actually read the book, had absolutely nothing to do with the book. None of the action involved her home town, and hit men never went for her main lovers. There were a few love scenes, but I was relieved to see that she is steering away from being a romance book. Sex is just fine, but I was getting tired of listening to her whine about her lovers. Good detective story.
"Okay story, hard to stay interested though."
Narrator did an awesome job. But the story just kind of keeps dragging on, hard to stay listening to it, I find myself missing sections because I get distracted. I read his other book about Joe Ledger, it was great. That is why I gave this a shot. I got half-way through, and just want a cliff notes version to finish up to know what happens. I will say, this could be a great story for some people though. It just didn't entertain me. It has alot of potential because it was a nice twist on an old story.
