"never wanted to stop listening"
I enjoyed every bit of this story and it was very well read
"could listen to it again and again"
yes, so much that my wandering mind possibly missed
historical fiction is my favorite. the setting in the southwest is familiar
not sure that there is a favorite. will listen again. and again. and again...
the judge at the end and the kids friend that is missing ears
cormac mccarthy has an interesting technique. both books that ive listened to have had the same effect regardless of the difference of the narrators. both narrators did an excellent job.. both stories moved quickly. enough that i know that i would find plenty in a second and even third listen.
"hard to put away"
maybe. it is definitely one of my favorites but with so many possibilities out there, it might be a while before i got around to it
not sure that i can make a comparison
the character development of "unc" more than anything, but nothing lacked
"unc", READ/LISTEN TO the book
top of my list!
"worth the listen"
probably not. it starts out good but gets crazy. the narrator definitely made the story. he drew all the characters very well
some less time warping or whatever it was, with more explanation
veek
yes
once again, the narrator made it good and i would choose additional books with him
"mixed review"
yes. i enjoyed most of the listens
maybe. if in converstion
two narrators kept the interest and two did not
yes. the stories were entertaining lessons. i felt bored by some
"i was amazed that i had never heard of this book"
yes. i am sure that i missed a lot in the read. it was an enjoyable listen
"cutting for stone". because it is the story of a treacherous life that could have been depressing but isnt
yes
rachel was humorous and positive and talented and ambitious and loveable and ...etc
i am surprised that i had never heard of this story before. it was very well written and obviously researched. not only did i enjoy the story extremely, but feel well enlightened on our nations history
"sounds sad but the reader didnt make it so"
the reader did an excellent job. i wouldve taken it as a sad story but somehow he made it fun and very interesting
the versions of current words that were used. i had to look up terms on the internet
the dialect help depict the story
i wouldnt have minded
"hard to put away"
ive listend to a lot. it is in the top ten of my list
i liked all performances. he even did an excellent job with the females
i found this in the discount list under BOGO. surprised to find it there after listening. it is such an outstanding story and very well read
"dissapointed"
yes because he, in the past with his radio show, was very humorous and creative
it seemed that the ace was reaching for material. to the point, that he was contradicting the past stories. he always has a good voice. his material lacked
i have always been an avid fan of the ace. this time, i am dissapointed
"kept the interest but seemed to lack something"
better than half way
none so far. its own special story and characters
yes she did. she changed her voice. i think that she could have read a touch quicker
NA. this is a dumb question
i would say this book was well written. some historical research must have been done and it had enough forbidden detail to make it interesting. i enjoyed it very much. my criticism would be that it could have been condensed at the end and read faster. i recommend this book
"brilliant and amazing"
this story kept me hooked through the whole thing. the characters are well written and read. the story is nothing less than spellbinding. i rarely write a review but this one, i felt deserved special acknowledgement
being able to fulfill the characters dialects helps
