Never thought I'd ever read books with a topless male gracing the cover, but I read this book - and then the rest of the Night Huntress series and the spin-offs as well. (Even though Night Huntress series covers don't, check out the cover of "Once Burned" and you'll see what I mean.)
The characters are enjoyable and it's just a fun ride. The sex scenes get more and more graphic from one novel to the next, but that's not why I read the books (they would be just as good without those scenes - the chemistry between the main characters is almost more palpable before they get to the dirty deed). The action, sense of humour and fun characters keep it entertaining in a way that kept me coming back, even if the basic storyline lacked originality at times.
Tavia is great, Bones's accent even grew on me.
I quite enjoyed these books, so glad I took a chance on the over-done Vamp genre!
After Fall of Giants I had high expectations - Winter of the World did not disappoint. I enjoyed this book very much; it took me back in time in a way that no history book could. Although the characters are fictional, it gave an insight into what people may have been thinking, feeling and surviving (or not) before, during and after WWII. It really is unfathomable and mind-blowing to anyone growing up in the post-war era. Although many of the horrifying parts were difficult to read, the characters and their stories were so compelling that I was eager to continue listening and following them until the very end.
"Where She Went" definitely surprised me in how much I ended up enjoying it. I liked "If I Stay" (prequel) a lot, but liked this one more... Or perhaps "If I Stay" just made "Where She Went" even better. The story is somewhat YA in that the main characters are musicians/rock stars, but it was genuine and fresh enough to reel me in and get me emotionally involved with the characters. I was left thinking about the book long after I'd finished it... Also, I love Dan Bittner's voice.
