JA Jance regalia us with another surprise ending, if you are a fan of Sheriff Joanna Brady, this is a must have as it further develops some of our favorite character, such as the former hooker, the parrot. Man, and moms new beau and the counties new coroner.
This book tells the sad yet beautiful romance between a young Hispanic injured football player from Douglas and the ex cheerleader from Bisbee. Through her tragic murder, her family learns life lessons while Joanna tracks the killers and breaks up the smuggling ring the DEA has been trying to catch.
Although I swore I wouldn't get into the whole Vampire thing with my reading, these are must hear. Yeah, some vampires abuse their power, but they do police their own. The Night Huntress series stole my imagination, as half vampire, half human Kat tries to kill all the vampires (her mom was raped by a newly made vampire before his ability to reproduce was completely dead) and ends up falling in love with and mating with a master vampire. In this book, Spade, one of their best friends falls in love with Kat's best friend while trying to help her escape a demon who her ancestor escaped from. Once nobility in England, Spade has all the manners bred into the English Gentlemen, with a killer streak not to be missed. Tavia Gilbert does an excellent job with this exciting and quick paced story.
Sophie Metropolis and her family will quickly gather your heart, and her ex-fiance will quickly gather your dislike. With the Australia hot guy fixing her guy and showing up at the oddest times to save our PI, who always seems to be in over her head, Sophie makes you smile laugh and cheer.
Dani, a favored character in the prior series enters into puberty all alone in a city destroyed from the walls falling and the demons running loose in her beloved city. Estranged from Mac, and still fighting the good fight against evil, Dani tries to protect her old friends and enemies, while negotiating feelings no 14 year old should have. Karen Marie has continued to hit a grand slam providing us with a new story line on her old story that leaves us waitting and wanting for more.
Great storyline, and like other series by this brilliantly creative author, a character you have come to treasure in the series finds his/her true soul mate in each book. I love how this series has the angels, under the leadership of the archangels, interact in the world of us lowly mortals on a daily basis, believing that we are theirs to take care of. The fact that they also create and control the vampire population, keeping everyone from harming humans!! Each angel has his/her own special abilities, which continue to grow throughout their immortal lives brings a fresh personality to each character. If you like fantasy and romance with intrigue and danger thrown in to keep the series moving, this is a must listen series.
I loved Gin Blanco in the first book, and this one continues to expand her character. As she battles the land of Ashland, NC and it's power players to help the little guy, our retired assassin continues to struggle with her personal life. Although she has always done "what she had to", Gin questions her worthiness for love and life beyond retirement as an assassin. At 35, she is finally ready for love, but will anyone accept her after all the things she's done. obviously not the great Detective Donovan Cain.
The beginning of this series, Kate was our main character and her friend Andrea was always there to back her up. Now Andrea, born beastkin, and tortured by the her mother's pack is our main character. At first I was dissappointed but after a few minutes of listening I was hooked. Kate and her mate, your fuzziness, are there to support Andrea as she comes to terms with the fact that the pack in Atlanta will always be at her back, and she can make a big contribution to them. Favorite characters from earlier books are back, as well as a new evil "God" to overcome. Worth the listen as all of the books in this series are.
This unlikely assassin is found starving in the streets, hiding from the woman who killed her family, by the assassin who turned down the job because his moral code does not allow him to kill children. She is trained as an assassin from this point, an assassin with a "moral code" who just wants to retire (having made plenty of money in her career). Her small group of magic wielding and totally human friends back up the story.
As Raine Benares continues to try to rid herself of the evil rock, while balancing the world's best and worst men, the story keeps getting better. Finally breaking her bound with the black wizard and cementing her relationship with the guardian, Raine goes on to battle those who should be able to defeat her. As she stumbles around learning her powers, she defeats her top nemesis and make new and unlikely allies to continue on her search to find and defeat her nemesis once and for all.
As always, the world as seen from Chet's view is always a great listen and makes you look at your own dogs sideways as you hear it. Chet may think Bernie is the smartest man in the room at any time, but Chet is the super dog who always saves the day, solves the crime, and saves the humans.
