When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, rise from the sea, a war begins that will take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon is devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes.

Would you listen to Pacific Rim again? Why?

Yep, but I love all the tech, massive robot stuff.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    The massive robots

What does Christian Rummel and Jay Snyder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good characterisation, but why do Americans do such atrocious Australian accents, do we really sound that bad.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but as always I doze off, wish I didn't start work so early

    Any additional comments?

Great story, not complex, just fun. Much more detail than the movie, and they tend to compliment each other.

The world's biggest supercollider is locked in an Arizona mountain. The Torus was built to unlock the secrets of the very moment of creation: the Big Bang itself. Will the Torus divulge the mysteries of the creation of the universe? Or will it, as some predict, suck the earth into a mini black hole? Or is the Torus a Satanic attempt, as a powerful televangelist decries, to challenge God Almighty on the very throne of heaven?

If you could sum up Blasphemy in three words, what would they be?

    Don't be extreme

What other book might you compare Blasphemy to and why?

Some of the other Preston books, he does tend to bag religion, which I don't really agree with, but in this book it does point out the follies of becoming extreme in any religion, which is also a bad thing. Keep things in perspective.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    Firing up Izabella

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Nope, too long.

    Good narration, kept me listening

What did you like best about this story?

Which character – as performed by Scott Sowers – was your favorite?

The main character, well all of them really

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Nope, I keep falling asleep. Not the books fault, I often use audio books to get to sleep as I have quite severe tinnitus ( ringing in the ears ) and have had for years.

Okay, for a short story, how far can you go in a short time, make sure you've listended to other Pendergast stuff otherwise you wont know the characters.

What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good speaking voice, like listening to an old friend tell a good story

    No, both the same

What did you like best about this story?

Good thriller, moves along quite well

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    Yes, quite a lively narration

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

None really, just a good listen

    Any additional comments?

The audio was not the best, not from the readers point, but the actual audio levels were very up and down, some parts were too soft and then others were too loud, it needed to be balanced better. This was a technical issue not a narration issue, but I wold have expected better audio production than this.

Praised as a "ruthless descendant of Holmes", agent Pendergast has become one of crime fiction's most endearing characters. His greatest enemy is one who has stalked him all of his life, his cunning and diabolical brother Diogenes. And Diogenes has thrown down the gauntlet. Now, several of the people closest to Pendergast are viciously murdered, and Pendergast is framed for the deeds.

If you’ve listened to books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child before, how does this one compare?

A good listen, not the best, but not bad. Relic was my favourite.

Have you listened to any of Rene Auberjonois’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Always consistently good.

Could you see Dance of Death being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, Relic would be good though.

A X L Pendergast, and the Narrator. It moves along quite well.

Would you recommend The Wheel of Darkness to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, as long as they were Pendergast fans.

What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Always good to listen to, he pulls you into the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Hmm, I don't think I would make a film about this book, I think it might not do so well at the box office.

    Any additional comments?

The authors tend to wander a bit far into the spiritual realms for my taste. I liked that Pendergast was always a very logical chap and was a bit disappointed with his mystical straying s. Still a good listen though.
