I enjoyed this book. Very light and not deep, but charming and enjoyable. A feel good type of story.
Although it is predictable, the likeable Mrs Pollifax keeps me getting this series. They always come out right!
I have listened to the whole series. I have enjoyed them very much. My only complaint has been the DETAILED !!! descriptions of battles which I do not enjoy. This is the best so far, in many ways because they focus on the characters and not the battle scenes.
Entertaining and fun! Hope there is more to come!
I enjoy detective stories. I was hoping to connect with this book. It was too macho, and dated for me. Typical Mike Hammer stuff. But just not really my thing.
A very light book that is good mind candy. Has a few pithy things to say about our priorities but for the most part an entertaining enough book. The characters are likeable and no one gets hurt! Good choice for easy listening.
I started this book 3 times before I got into it enough to keep listening till the end. Once I got past the first few chapters I was actually hooked. The characters are enjoyable and became very real to me. The exploration into the backgrounds of all the participants was revealing. No one is as simple as they look on the surface and some of the apparently strong people have hidden weaknesses and the apparently weak have hidden strength. Although it deals with a murder the book conveys a sense of hope in the end.
This book is enjoyable and funny. You do not have to think too hard, but it has enough twists that it is not completely predictable. It actually touches on some really serious issues but does this in a way that makes the issues peripheral to the story and not the main point of the story. Makes you feel like there are some good guys still out there.
At the beginning I was almost ready to see about returning this book. After the first part it got my attention. While it is somewhat contrived and some of the bad guys are a little too stupid I found it worth the time to listen to the end.
This is a very intriguing book. It explores the personality of spies and the personality of the people who guide them. It kept my attention right from the beginning. I sat up late to listen to the last bit.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys: adventure, romance, intrigue and WW2 accounts. Just a really good story.
Yes I would recommend it because it explores the meaning of the human experience. If we did have a world wide catastrophe how would we respond? Would be be "civilized" or not so much?
Yes I would try another of Roberts books because he tells a good story, also incorporating lots of thoughts on good, evil, meaning of life, hope and so on.
Josh, no question.
Yes, except that you can't! It is too long!
Entertaining but made me think outside the box. Lots of ideas that stretch the boundaries of "acceptable" vs "atrocity "
He is a great reader. The book flowed along very well.
The thought of what makes us human and worthy of civil rights or not.
Entertaining and thought provoking. I would recommend this book highly.
