Janis Ian was catapulted into the spotlight in 1966 at the age of 15, when her soul-wrenching song "Society's Child" became a hit. But this was only the beginning of a long and illustrious career. In Society's Child, Janis Ian provides a relentlessly honest account of the successes and failures - and the hopes and dreams - of an extraordinary life.

Would you consider the audio edition of Society's Child to be better than the print version?

How can you possibly beat a well-read autobiography about a musician when that artist performs the songs as she tells the story. Well-read, naturally beautifully performed.

    Just lovely.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Society's Child?

When she described how she came up with her hit "At Seventeen."

Once upon a time...as a fair maiden lay weeping upon a cold tombstone, her heartfelt desire was suddenly made real before her: Tall, broad of shoulder, attired in gleaming silver and gold, her knight in shining armor had come to rescue his damsel in distress.... Hailed worldwide as one of the most romantic novels of all time, Jude Deveraux's dazzling best seller "will capture your heart - and hold it" ( Daily Herald, Chicago) with its breathtaking tale.

I loved this book when I first read it years ago and I really wanted to love this production as well. I guess my tastes have changed because it was hard to finish this audiobook.

The female characters were spineless and the men were jerks. Part of it was the narrator, who has a wonderful voice but his female voices are irritating and very whiny. But I have to put most of the "fault" onto outdated stereotypes of helpless women and rakish men.

Revered mystery writer Josephine Tey is traveling from Scotland to London for the final week of her play Richard of Bordeaux, the surprise hit of the season, with pacifist themes that resonate in a world still haunted by war. But joy turns to horror when her arrival coincides with the murder of a young woman she had befriended on the train ride - and Tey is plunged into a mystery as puzzling as any in her own works.

With a fun and folksy way of addressing its audience, Keep Moving serves as an instruction audiobook on how to embrace old age with a positive attitude. The chapters are filled with exclusive personal anecdotes that explore various themes on aging: how to adapt to the physical and social changes, deal with loss of friends and loved ones, stay current, fall in love again, and "keep moving" every day like there's no tomorrow.

It was quite enjoyable and inspiring and offers wisdom for all ages, young and old(er) alike.

While his age showed somewhat in his performance, the performance was excellent.

My only complaint is that it was somewhat repetitive. Some of that was for emphasis but some of it felt like a filler.

But overall, that was 5 hours of my life well spent.

What disappointed you about Derik's Bane?

Why in heaven's name would you sneak in the that short story "Monster Love"? I was "OK" with this novel ... not good but it was OK. Then the ugly short-story started. RAPE is not romance.

What was most disappointing about MaryJanice Davidson’s story?

    RAPE IS NOT ROMANCE.

What does Nancy Wu bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a very good narrator.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

If you jump past the piece of violent crud at the end, Derek's Bane was ok.

    Any additional comments?

MaryJanice Davidson: Rape is Rape. It is not romance and it is not fun or funny. I always thought the Luke and Laura "romance" was sick and I would have thought that we had progressed past this level of sick thinking.

Please do not throw this garbage into any more of your books or you will lose readership.

Jason Schuyler is one of Anita Blake's best friends and favorite werewolves, with benefits. J.J. is his lady love, an old flame from childhood who dances at one of the top ballet companies in New York. She's accomplished, beautiful, and she's crazy about him, too. Neither of them wants to be monogamous, so what could go wrong? J.J. is enthusiastically bisexual, with an emphasis on the female side of things.

Would you try another book from Laurell K. Hamilton and/or Kimberly Alexis?

Laurell K. Hamilton? Not without reading the reviews first.

Kimberly Alexis' performance was the only thing that made this worthwhile.

What could Laurell K. Hamilton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I don't know. Maybe have a story, plot, something other than one sex scene, followed by discussion about the last sex scene, planning then next sex scene. Then the next sex scene ...

What character would you cut from Jason?

Anita. That character deserves more than being the "star" of the metaphysical version of Debbie Does Dallas

    Any additional comments?

I'll read the reviews before buying next time.

The Charisian Empire, born in war, has always known it must fight for its very survival. What most of its subjects don’t know even now, however, is how much more it’s fighting for. Emperor Cayleb, Empress Sharleyan, Merlin Athrawes, and their innermost circle of most trusted advisers do know. And because they do, they know the penalty if they lose will be far worse than their own deaths and the destruction of all they know and love.

    THE NARRATOR!

Would you be willing to try another one of Charles Keating’s performances?

Great accent. Nice voice. Big "s" issue. Every "s" was disturbing.

This was nothing more than a reading of the book. No acting. No attempts to develop character voices.

    Sorry. Boring.

Would you listen to By Heresies Distressed again? Why?

Not until it's re-recorded (if ever!) by Oliver Wyman.

What three words best describe Jason Culp’s voice?

He's a good reader but not as good as Oliver Wyman. Can't stand the accent he chose for Caleb, a poor Scottish Burr that make the Emperor sound unintelligent.

Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next. Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him.

If you could sum up Warbound in three words, what would they be?

    A Maz Zing!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oh, no question: Faye! While Jake, Heinrich, Lance and all the rest are amazing, Faye is the star of the series. That little Okie girl can kick @$$ and take names. Actually, she doesn't bother with the names.

Which character – as performed by Bronson Pinchot – was your favorite?

That's tough. Bronson Pinchot is really the best narrator for having different voices for each character. I'd have to go with Faye and the Iron Guard.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were a few "whoops" as a few twists and turns arose but there was only one tear-jerk moment. I know you're going to have to lose somebody in a war but, sob, why couldn't (no spoiler here!) have had a happy ending?!?

    Any additional comments?

My only regret is that the series had to end. It was exciting, thought-provoking and emotional. This was a satisfying conclusion and it certainly lived up to the rest of the series. I didn't want it to end.

In 1964, Jacqueline Kennedy recorded seven historic interviews about her life with John F. Kennedy. Now, decades later, these conversations can be heard in this digitally remastered eight-and-a-half-hour audio program. This audiobook includes the foreword written and read by Caroline Kennedy; introduction written and read by historian Michael Beschloss and the photos from the hardcover book, as well as complete annotations from Michael Beschloss, both in downloadable PDF format.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I understand that Jacqueline Kennedy was fairly young and newly widowed when these tapes were made but, really, how snarky and nasty can even a 1950s high society wife be? This has significantly changed my opinion of Jacqueline Kennedy and not for the good. The historical background information and perspective, while clearly warped, is the only reason I continued after the first hour of the listening to her snarky, back-biting and mean-spirited comments about at least half of the people and situations.

Was Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy worth the listening time?

    Maybe.

    Any additional comments?

I'm not sure whether or not Caroline Kennedy should be commended for allowing her mother's words been heard without editing, nasty comments and all. I'm not sure I would have wanted her memory sullied by her own words. It's sad.
