What can I tell you? If you read the prior Harry Bosch novels you'll love it. If this is your first you'll be hooked. It's just great to be able to listen the yarn unfold. Michael Connelley is a masterful story teller.
I loved almost all of Connelley's books especially the Harry Bosch series and the way that he was able to keep the reader so involved. I never wanted those books to end and always looked forward to the next book in the series. The Mickey Haller series never quite made the cut for me. But Connelley finally got it right with this book. Nice work Michael. I think this is the first book in a long time I've rated 5 stars. Get it, you'll enjoy the listen.
Baldacci creates a captivating novel of absurdities. If you like a yarn that help you pass some time and get involved in trying to understand the puzzle of the story then you'll enjoy this book. I did! But, I also thought it was so far removed from reality and believability that it was a real stretch to just say, "Give me a break".
Make it less convoluted, make the # of people killed much smaller, make the number of government traitors much smaller.
The prior reviewers were very wrong. I've listened to every Michael Connelly book. Some really missed the mark. I've only had one Harry Bosch story that wasn't quite right, that was the "BrassVerdict". He was not the main character in that story, Mickey Haller was the main character.
This book had it all. Len Cariou was terrific as the reader, the plot had some significant surprises and the deaths of one of the characters was shocking.
I was compelled to bring my ipod from my car to my kitchen to other places in my house so that I could continue to listen to the end of the story.
This was a great listen. It was great to see that Harry was back.
This was my first Coben book. After listening I bought another. I never felt let down. The book just flowed with one twist after another. I usually listen to audible books when I commute to and from work. This tale caused me to continue listening every night when I finished my journey. Get it, you'll love it, I did.
The first few chapters were terrific. After that is was just plain stupid. It was all I could do to finish listening to the book.
Perfectly crafted sentences......yeah, if you carry a dictionary with you. The writer likes to use words that make the sentences flowery and beautiful....but what did he say?
I walked away after listening to this book with a very sad feeling. The book was about being depressed .......passing through life without any meaning.....wasting time.....being a victim...I wish I had never read this.
The author was able to keep my attention for the entire book but I felt very let down at the end with the absurd fantasy of a jail entry.
Maybe I missed something. But, I can't recommend this title to anyone.
If you commute to work this might be a difficult book to listen to. You're not going to want to stop the story and listen the rest of it when it's time to go home.
I haven't listened to Dean Koontz for a while. He really captures your attention. While the theme is pretty far out the story grabs you.
If you like to me totally immersed in a story Koontz will do that for you. If you like being kept on the edge of your seat this will not disappoint you.
The author, Scott Turow, put together a book that was more than just a "Who done it". He exposed the conflicts in the legal system by allowing us to view the personalities of the players in the system as real people. The unraveling of the hidden truths throughout the book kept me looking forward to the next chapter.
The beginning of the book was difficult to follow because the story jumped from the present to the past. Perhaps it was the reader, but in the beginning it was difficult to tell what time frame the story was in. As the story progressed however the problem of time was resolved.
I thouroughly enjoyed the reading but felt a little let down with the ending.
The process of getting to the end of the book made the reading worthwile. The personalitites of the players were very well developed in the book.
I rate this 4 stars and would recommend this audio as an enjoyable listening experience.
