Six months ago, the world ended. The Baugh Contagion swept across the planet. Its victims were left twitching, adrenalized cannibals that quickly became know as Junkies. Civilization crumbled as people created isolated safe havens to hide from the infected... and the possibly infected. Now, as society nears a tipping point, lives will intersect and intertwine across two days in a desolate city.

Wow, this is a good science book that is not so much about science as it is about a man and life and the problems we fall into with not being perfect. The ending is good. The build up is great and the characters are amazing. I would read it again in a second.

Stealth. Gorgon. Regenerator. Cerberus. Zzzap. The Mighty Dragon. They were heroes. Vigilantes. Crusaders for justice, using their superhuman abilites to make Los Angeles a better place. Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. The population was decimated, heroes fell, and the city of angels was left a desolate zombie wasteland like so many others.

This story could have been terrible. But it is done very very well. I was impressed by how the story came together completely and the characters were deep and with faults of their own. The only problem I had with the book is why the bad guys (no spoiler) were bad. Otherwise great read for a genera that is hard to be creative in.

Good book I enjoyed the read however it was a little simple. The concept was intriguing however. The characters were decent but did not have the depth required for such a concept.

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. Definitely a Teen book. It is fun it is interesting however it is not deep and it has the same problems as most teen books, such that if this logical step was taken, then none of this would happen.

I enjoyed the book, but it was not up to what I was expecting unfortunately.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

This story starts out so wonderful. It is a great description of a post-apocalyptic landscape. The only issue with the story is the religious parts that start to appear as the great battle between what is thought to be good and evil. I would have much rather seen the story go in a continuous surviving the unthinkable line. However the book is really good and worth a read. I tried to watch the movie / TV show and I just could not get into it.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

This book really gets you going into a adventure that you want so badly to be real. The mystery is there, the suspense is there.

This book reminds me of the LOST TV show. Season 1 it starts off awesome and you want more. You get to the hatch and you are so bewildered and amazed you don't know what to think. But finally you get to the ending and you are left with a bit of why did it go that way.

Nonetheless I liked it a lot and I have added Peter Clines to my author list. I can't wait to read more and I would love to know of more books like this.
