With vividly realized characters and a breathtaking pace, Last Man Standing is another spellbinding title from David Baldacci, best selling author of Wish You Well. When the FBI Hostage Rescue Team is ambushed, it is up to sole survivor Web London to find the killer.

    Chad says: "Great book"
    "The detail didn't bother me"
    Overall

This is easily the best book I've heard since signing up. Better than From a Buick Eight, where King seems determined to tell us every old guy insight he's ever come across. Here the detail helps us understand the characters and their world. It was a terrific, long and complex thriller that I couldn't outsmart.

  • Think!: Why Crucial Decisions Can't Be Made in the Blink of an Eye

    Story

Award-winning writer Michael R. LeGault has contributed to such notable periodicals as the Washington Times and the National Post. Here, with gusto, he denounces American pop culture and strikes out at those who would suggest that decisions made on the fly might be the best decisions we ever make. According to LeGault, you have to think carefully before you act. Critical analysis and factual knowledge must be scrutinized before a judgment or course of action can be decided upon.

    "Exploiting your betters"

"Think" capitalizes on the deserved popularity of Malcomb Gladwell's "Blink" to sell redundant, pompous pedagogy, a sort of intellectual moralizing, that could have been said much more briefly. The book has some merits. It might make an interesting lecture. Stretching it to book length seems to answer to the author's self-expressed anxieties about his income.

  • A Short History of Nearly Everything

Bill Bryson has been an enormously popular author both for his travel books and for his books on the English language. Now, this beloved comic genius turns his attention to science. Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

Corby says: "Very informative, fun to listen to"
    "GREAT READ"
    Overall

BRYSON IS FUN TO LISTEN TO, AND HE WRITES EXTREMELY WELL. HIS ABILITY TO MAKE THE ARCANE ACCESSIBLE IS PEERLESS. THIS BOOK IS FUN AND INFORMATIVE, NOT AS COMMON A COMBINATION AS YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN LED TO BELIEVE
