Here is the saga of a people who call themselves the Clan of the Cave Bear; how they lived; the animals they hunted; the great totems they revered. But mostly it is the story of Ayla, the girl they found and raised, who was not like them. To the Clan, her fair looks make her different - ugly.

I truly enjoyed this book when it first came out and now have listened to it in audio. It is one of the most researched historical novels of the early man on earth. The writer has captured the time and made a very enjoyable story while she was at it.

The story is amazing, the things that were endured and triumphed over are unbelievable. At the same time made exciting and heartwarming by the author. The suspense is so well built and the story is so well plotted that you wont' be able to stop listening until you have heard it all. Even the ending is one you would have wanted so don't be afraid of another Holocaust story and get the book.

Once again Bryce delivers a story that gives us a perspective of life that is interesting and different. The people are always real and the characters are alive. Furthermore the story has meaning and brings you inside the heart of the author. If you like Bryce Courtenay you will enjoy this one more of his brilliant sagas. If you have not tried him yet......this is a really good place to start.

Christina Baker Kline writes about a time in America that probably very few know about. An orphan train? What is that? Good story to read while you do. Only someone who is an orphan can understand what it's like to be waiting to be picked. I really felt for the characters and the story was well written.

Teenage angst meets reality. Time to grow up and to grow as a person. Jojo Moyes has written about this subject but brought to it something different and unusual. I would just like to say I hope that people in the hero's predicament are not treated like he was any more. If so we all need to take a look to ourselves and decide to make the world a better place for people with disabilities. They have enough difficulty just being alive. We can all learn from this book.

Like an action movie the excitement never stops, and the characters are so hot. This is really fun and Sebastian Fields can read a book to me anytime. The characters all have redeeming qualities and will make you root for them. Even though it is written about a time that most books show as dreary and scary. One of my favorite genre, I liked the twist that Coleen Gleason has used here. You will too. Getting the sequel now!

Since the introduction of dietary guidelines calling for reduced fat intake in the 1970s, a strange phenomenon has occurred: Americans have steadily, inexorably become heavier, less healthy, and more prone to diabetes than ever before. After putting more than two thousand of his at-risk patients on a wheat-free regimen and seeing extraordinary results, cardiologist William Davis has come to the disturbing conclusion that it is not fat, not sugar, not our sedentary lifestyle that is causing America’s obesity epidemic—it is wheat.

Very educational, After trying this diet I have had less joint pain, and felt more energetic. Thanks to the helpful printout included with this audiobook, the recipes and other charts are available to make the transition to this diet easier. Anyone thinking of trying it should plan on at least 30 days and if you have not lost weight or don't feel better I will be surprised. I was skeptical at first but have made it a way of life. I don't practice fanaticism and never have wheat but it is a very low part of my diet.

Sorry I never got into this book or the character. I love Jamie and Clair so much I tried this story to see if I would get into it. It was not exciting or moving for me at all. I have all of the Outlander series and love them all. The narrator may have been the problem because he was ordinary rather than extraordinary as Davina Porter is.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

I enjoy this kind of science fiction that goes in to a story about what could happen if a disease becomes rampant in our country. Maybe just thinking about this will help us be better prepared if something like this did happen. I know it got me thinking and it was a very good read. Great narration as well.
