When a widowed rancher hires a housekeeper to help with his three young sons, he finds her to be cheerful and competent. Yet she is concealing a colorful and infamous past. Filled with humor and hardship, this novel sings with what the author calls "a poetry of the vernacular". A finalist for the National Book award, Ivan Doig, who has published 11 books, has been hailed as the "West's preeminent literary novelist" by the Denver Post.

    Rick Just says: "Wordplay"
    "Well Done!"
    Overall

Truly a wonderful experience to read this book. Ivan's words brought even the most ordinary everyday circumstances of a century ago to such vibrant life that I was living right beside a family I have come to know so well I now miss them. Frequently I caught myself in awe of his eloquence. The narration was superb. Well Done!

Siddhartha is Nobel Prize-winning author Hermann Hesse's most famous and influential work, a novel of self-exploration that will linger in your mind and spirit for a lifetime. A young man, blessed with loving parents and a safe home in a world where want and neglect abound, leaves this haven in search of himself.

Ramanujam says: "Very Interesting to Listen"
    "Loved It"
    Overall

Wonderful story. Loved the narration. Has become one of my favorite books on tape.

  • Cinderella Man: James Braddock, Max Baer, and the Greatest Upset in Boxing History

Lost in the annals of boxing is the sport's true Cinderella story. James J. Braddock, dubbed "Cinderella Man" by Damon Runyon, was a once promising light heavyweight for whom a string of losses in the ring and a broken right hand happened to coincide with the Great Crash of 1929.

    Marcus Anthony says: "Excellent"
    "I'm on my third listen"
    Overall

I love this book and the narration. I've had this audio for several years now and I'm on my third listen. I'm inspired each time and each time I hear something new.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Kapila says: "6 titles in the series so far"
    "Sets the highest standard"
    Overall

This is without a doubt the best sci-fi audio book I've ever listened to. I've been searching for something to captivate me as Enders' Game has and nothing compares. Truly a work of art!

The definitive, personal account of the deadliest season in the history of Everest by the acclaimed journalist and author of Into the Wild. Read by the author. Also, hear a Fresh Air interview with Krakauer conducted shortly after his ordeal.

    David says: "Being There"
"Well done Jon. You've set a standard!"
    Overall

Jon's work is captivating and educational. When reaching the last CD I so much did not want it to end that I decided not to listen to it rather, I would start it over, keeping it fresh and alive. The second time around was as compelling as the first. I indeed finished the second go around having felt the Everest adventure and it's participants were a part of me.

I have listened to it many times since.
