Tucker McCade has known violence his whole life: orphaned in a massacre, abused as a "half-breed" child, trained as a ruthless Texas Ranger, he's learned the hard way that might makes right. So even he is shocked when he falls for Sally Mae, a Quaker nurse. Unable to resist Tucker's charm, character and chiseled body, she throws herself into their torrid affair, indulging every one of her wildest sexual fantasies.

Perhaps I could READ this book and ignore the plethora of bad grammar and annoying reading but I couldn't waste my time listening to it.

Nola Leary would have been content to stay in Kilcairy, Ireland, healing villagers at her family’s clinic with a mix of magic and modern medicine. But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Her supernatural task? To unearth four artifacts hidden by her grandfather before a rival magical family beats her to it. Complication One: The artifacts are lost somewhere in vampire Jane Jameson’s occult bookshop. Complication Two: Her new neighbor, Jed Trudeau, keeps turning up half-naked at the strangest times....

Would you consider the audio edition of A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses to be better than the print version?

Probably not, since the accents were so ridiculously distracting. I did enjoy the story though.

Mary Alice Brannigan doesn’t believe in the supernatural. Nor does she expect to find that Dreamland, the decaying amusement park she’s been hired to restore, is a prison for the five Untouchables, the most powerful demons in the history of the world. Plus, there’s a guy she’s falling hard for, and there’s something about him that’s not quite right.

Overall, the book was pretty good. It wasn't what I was expecting from this author, nor would I count it as a favorite. I enjoyed listening to it, although the story got pretty wild and ... odd at times.

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

High up--I really enjoy the witty banter in Molly Harper's books, despite the highly improbable plot lines

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127, Hawaii to Newark, she’s knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she’s flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he’s dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Pretty high. I really like the narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!! I actually got sick the weekend I downloaded it, and ended up listening to the entire thing in a couple of days.

Ninth in the series, Undead and Unfinished finds Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor slogging her way through the Book of the Dead. When Lucifer offers to give up all the book’s secrets, Betsy is intrigued. But there’s a catch, of course. For her part of the bargain, Betsy must take her half-sister, Laura, to Hell, so Laura can develop an appreciation for her dark heritage.

    Overall

Betsy got so annoying that I found myself yelling at the audiobook and couldn't finish it. This was the first book I listened to, and I now realize that I only got this far because I managed to ignore, or skim over how completely obnoxious of a protagonist Betsy is. I'm done.

A shadowy figure known as the Dog is believed to be the ruthless terrorist who is systematically and savagely assassinating American diplomats and their families around the globe. Overall

The stereotypes of 'Muslim terrorists' get old, fast. The author doesn't know jack about Islamic history aside from what he researched about the hashishun. The narrator is awesome, which is the only reason I will finish this book. Other than that, I'm not impressed and was, at times insulted.

Sophie Dempsey wants to help her sister film a video and then get out of Temptation, Ohio. Mayor Phin Tucker wants to play pool with the police chief and keep things peaceful. But when Sophie and Phin meet, they both get more than they want. Gossip, blackmail, adultery, murder, vehicular abuse of a corpse, and slightly perverse but excellent sex: all hell breaks loose in Temptation.

I found this book through read suggestions and enjoyed it. It wasn't terribly deep, and was a quick 'read' (or listen in this case). If you want a quick book that you can get into, but doesn't require a lot of attention this is one :)

When Chaz Perron's wife discovers that he is running a scam (posing as a marine biologist to doctor water samples so that an agribusiness tycoon can continue illegally dumping fertilizer into the Everglades), he pushes her overboard from a cruise liner. Unlucky for Chaz, Joey survives clutching a bale of Jamaican pot. Rescued from the Atlantic by a former police officer, Mick Stranahan, she decides not to report him but instead haunt and taunt him, with Mick's help, by playing dead.

    Phillip says: "Summer's Best Read"
    "Excellent fast paced and witty."
    Overall

This book is what I have come to expect from Carl Hiaasen; a fast paced, hilarious, intriquing book with lots of twists. It is one of the few books that I will listen to over and over again and not get bored with it. It is much better than Star Island, which really disappointed me after listening to this one. I would most definitely suggest this book as an adult substitution to Hoot and Flush (also excellent books).

Skinny Dip was such an excellent book that I thought I would download this one. I just found it boring, and not at all witty like his other books. I wouldn't suggest this book...especially not as a first read.
