One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls - a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just "troubled". Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side - learning to harness their powers, control their magic, and live in the normal world. Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she?

I just wanted to do a quick review on this audiobook specifically...I am familiar with the narrator from another series of books where I thought she did a pretty good job, but I am frustrated with this particular performance on this book here because the narrator reads SO slowly. It is taking me a long time and many tries to be able to get into this book because of this. I mean, really, she is SO slow! I don't like the way it sounds when I set my iPod to replay audiobooks faster but I am seriously considering it for this book. So slow....I hope she picks it up in future books. That's all I wanted to say. Wow is she slow. I own a ton fo audiobooks but I don't think many are this slowly narrated. Is it just me?? I am going to switch to the ebook or print copy. I can read it in probably one-fourth of the time. It drives me crazy. I guess you get the point! Eek. She reads well, just slow! She has a pleasant voice, but is too slow. Slow slow slow.

Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) rocks this mock bedtime story, capturing a hilarious range of emotions as the voice of a father struggling to get his child to sleep. Go the F**k to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don’t always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland.

Samuel L. Jackson is the perfect narrator to my own very favorite, and new guilty pleasure, bedtime story for myself. As a parent I don't care how goody two shoes you are, we've ALL secretly had thoughts EXACTLY like this when our kids just won't go the f**k to sleep already! We're tired, we're sleep deprived, we've spent all day working our butts off for our kids whether we're stay at home parents, work at home parents, parents who work outside the home as well....heck, even babysitters lose their patience.

I laugh out loud unabashedly every single time I listen to this story, and I listen to it on my iPod every time I suffer from the feeling of just wanting my kids to go to sleep so I can too. This is f*****g Goodnight Moon for worn out, weary parents with a sense of humor! Guess How Much I Love You, Bedtime for Frances, anything by Sandra Boynton, and my own child's favorite Cookie's Week....okay, okay already, we've read these and Pinkalicious, Purplicious, and The Fuschia is Now. So now.....let's Go the F**k to sleep already!!!!!

Brilliant, love it, love it, love it! If you don't appreciate this book then you are my evil un-twin. Samuel L. Jackson, thank you for the perfect narration.

Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she works at home designing sophisticated security systems.

    Story

Believe it or not, I have never read a Nora Roberts book in my life until this one. And I credit Julia Whelan with giving voice to the main character in such a brilliant way as to draw me in to the story just for her sake (the character).....I'm like a broken record, so let me do it: "Anything Julia Whelan does is a brilliant performance!" I have to say that in every review of a book narrated by her, can't help myself.

Ok, so I don't really do long descriptions of the plots of books I review. My reviews are my opinion, not a plot summary. So there's a college aged girl who has genious level intelligence (and is very literal and deliberate), and has never let loose and done anything wild in her life, which is stifled by her mother. She decides to get fake IDs made and go clubbing with her friend. And the girls by some stroke of incredibly bad luck get involved with Godfather level mobsters and she witnesses her friend get murdered, and ends up herself being put into a witness protection program. We see her go through this and we see the way her life is years later as she remains guarded and in hiding, unwilling to get close to people, and hiding behind a good security system and a guard dog. So of course, woman meets man and her life of extremely guarded privacy begins to unravel. Will she be able to get close to him and maybe even fall in love? STOP right here because...................

What makes this book is the character not the plot. The plot is quite good and a real thriller, but the main character is the very essence of this book. Nora Roberts does romance so I hear, but at least in this book, her main character is thoroughly intriguing through and through, very well written and one you won't forget.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Seriously, anything Julia Whelan narrates is brilliantly done. She's one of the best narrators out there, she's amazing.

And Gillian Flynn is a dark, soul searing writer. On the surface, Gone Girl is about a wife who goes missing: did her husband have anything to do with it? You will be torn back and forth trying to decide which of these two characters, the husband or the wife, is the sympathetic one.......I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but this book is wicked good. You can enjoy this book at the surface level but you'll love it that much more if you relish a dark, dirty look at just what lengths two sociopaths on a collision course are capable of. Which one will you find sympathy with? The conclusion is truly frightening if you "get" this book and care.

Did I scare you? Because Gone Girl will haunt you if dare to read it deeply.

And for the rest of you- it's a good book. You'll enjoy the plot and the twists and turns as you try to sort out what's happened to make this young married woman a Gone Girl.......or who did it...

In a famous family of exceptionally talented people, fifteen-year-old Claire Walker is ordinary...or so she leads everyone to believe. Yet the minute she steps out of line, her parents transfer her to Cambial Academy: the prestigious boarding school that her great-grandfather founded for students with supernatural abilities, or "specials."

I bought this book on a whim, and was hesitant because it is not available in ebook format. I saw it on Audible and looked it up on another site to read the hardcover reviews, and I liked the sound of the narrator on the sample, so I took a chance. This book is actually pretty good light listening, it held my interest and I enjoyed it. The narrator is good so it really is an enjoyable and worthwile listen if you are interested in young adult paranormal books. It held my attention. In addition I have even relistened to it once already. If this becomes a series I would like to keep buying the audiobooks. And for the record I am an adult listener, not a teen. Some of the other similar series and books I have enjoyed listening to are House of Night (some books more than others and especially some narrators more than others!), The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Vampire Academy, Divergent, Shatter Me, The Dark Divine series by Bree Despain, I am Number 4 (The Lorien Legacies series), and Carrie Ryan's Forest of Hands and Teeth series,Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments, and Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers trilogy., Just to give you some idea of what else I've really enjoyed since I like this genre. I also liked the Evernight series by Claudia Gray but they are not yet available in audiobook format. So, I'm an adult who always enjoys a GOOD YA paranormal book whether there's any romance in it or it's just adventure.

The entire school's talking about the gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck. Everyone except Kaylee Cavanaugh. After all, Kaylee’s no ordinary high-school junior. She's a banshee - she screams when someone dies. But the next scream might be for Kaylee. Yeah, it's a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee's going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students.

    Story

I have followed this series from the start, and this is probably the best book in the series so far. I had a few reasons I could not give it all five stars, which I will try to give without spoiling the storyline for those who have not read or listened to it yet.

The good: the story is well written. The story is definitely action packed and it WILL keep you on the edge of your seat because just mere pages into the story we find out that the main character, Kaylee's, name has appeared on the Reaper list as scheduled to die in one week. And even worse, her soul was already given an extension once before when her mother died for her so this means that this time, Kaylee has no second chance according to the Reaper rules, there is nothing that can be done, no exchange that can be worked out to save her. Kaylee decides to spend the possible last week of her life trying to save the girls in her school from the new math teacher, who is an incubus. He is impregnating human girls and humans will die while trying to carry an uncubus fetus to term. He has his sights set on Emma, Kaylee's best friend, so she teams up with Nash and Sabine to try to stop the Incubus. Throughout this Kaylee tries to cope with the knowledge that she is scheduled to die and neither her dad nor Tod can find a way to save her, so her lifeline is ticking away,or is it? And her love life changes in a major way. So why did I take a star off? For one, a certain character has been completely ruined throughout this series. It doesn't work well for me to see how this character began and how this character is behaving now. Verging on unredeemable,I don't know how the author will rehabilitate this character or if she wants to. And finally, the ending. It was action packed and good, but a bit of a cop out. One plot twist was awesome, and it's not what you think (someone who died a final death and was not supposed to be able to, comes back almost right away! And it's not Kaylee!) As for Kaylee....I'm not telling.
