Here on Earth, Danny North is still in high school, yet he holds in his heart and mind all the stolen outselves of 13 centuries of gatemages. The Families still want to kill him if they can’t control him - and they can’t control him; he is far too powerful. On Westil, Wad is now nearly powerless - he lost everything to Danny in their struggle. Even if he can survive the revenge of his enemies, he must still somehow make peace with the Gatemage Daniel North, for when Danny took that power from Loki, he also took responsibility for the Great Gates.

What made the experience of listening to The Gate Thief the most enjoyable?

The reading and narration is good as is the story however book one and book two seem like they should really be one book as the story kind of ends where if feels like it should begin.

    Any additional comments?

Jack Ryan has only just moved back into the Oval Office when he is faced with a new international threat. An aborted coup in the People's Republic of China has left President Wei Zhen Lin with no choice but to agree with the expansionist policies of General Su Ke Quiang. They have declared the South China Sea a protectorate and are planning an invasion of Taiwan. The Ryan administration is determined to thwart China’s ambitions, but the stakes are dangerously high as a new breed of powerful Chinese anti-ship missiles endanger the US Navy's plans to protect the island.

What made the experience of listening to Threat Vector the most enjoyable?

Some of the Virus stuff touches on what’s real but this book deviates from real life a little too much in some ways mostly towards the ending.

Danny North knew from early childhood that his family was different - and that he was different from them. While his cousins were learning how to create the things that commoners called fairies, ghosts, golems, trolls, werewolves, and other such miracles that were the heritage of the North family, Danny worried that he would never show a talent, never form an "outself"....

It is not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters start to gather, picking over the bones of the dead and fighting for the spoils of the soon-to-be dead. Now in the Seven Kingdoms, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed, while surprising faces, some familiar, others only just appearing, are seen emerging from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges ahead.

All I can tell you is that the experience of trying to listen to this book after enjoying so well the last three is nothing short of painful.

    A few key points:
    1) This narrator reads or appears to read much faster then the last one. This completely changes the rhythm of the story. It also makes it next to impossible to understand what is going on.
2)This narrator does not seem to enjoy reading the story at all, there is no emotion in his telling of it, rather it is told in what sounds like a 56 hour single breath.
    3) All those great intonations, voices, and pronunciations that you’ve learned to be so comfortable with after listening for the last 3 books and last 150 hours are gone.

If I could get a computer to speak with a human voice it would be an adequate substitute for this particular version. And certainly no replacement for what I had previously enjoyed listening to so much…
