King, the master storyteller, does it again with this story. I've read this tale over and over again and was looking forward to hearing this fantasy narrated. It lends itself perfectly to be read aloud. However, Bronson Pinchot was unable to deliver. His phrasing and pace of delivery was horrible. To see if he was being true to the way the story was wrriten, I read along in sections. Pinchot would pause mid-sentence (sometimes were no commas or other pauses were indicated). He would read ends of some sentences with the beginning of others as if they were the sentence. When reading for the characters, he often missed the mark and almost always missed the mark for Flagg. When King would write that Flagg send something loud and fast, Pinchot would whisper (quieter than he normally did for Flagg) and speak so slow, I thought he fell asleep at the mike.
If you like this story and love to hear narrated fantasy tales, you'll hate this version. I can only hope King did not hear this reading and agree to it. If you had told me a bored high school English class was reading this aloud I would have believed it. It truely reminded me of an English class reading Shakespeare. Avoid everything narrated by Bronson Pinchot.
