I always enjoy Susan Elizabeth Phillips' books and this was no exception. The story kept me completely entertained from beginning to end. I waited a long time for this release and was not disappointed. Kate Fleming/Anna Fields was one of my favorite readers, and I miss her, but Julia Gibson was very good and I look forward to listening to her in the future.
Great choice for stress relief! Katie MacAlister has a great imagination and Barbara Rosenblatt is my all time favorite reader. Barbara makes the characters so much more entertaining than I believe anyone else could. (I heard the noises other listeners complained of, but Barbara is a person, not a machine, doesn't bother me. I did notice it more when I wore headphones and had the volume up too high. I didn't hear it in my car.)
I was slow to warm up to this character, but it didn't take long before I didn't want to turn my player off. Great storyline. I nearly laughed out loud on the train. I didn't quite get used to the reader. Kate's voice didn't match my idea of how Emma would sound, which would have been more like Emily Gray's narrative style or how Renee Zelwegger played Brigette Jones. But still loved it.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips is my favorite author and she gets better with each book. Her characters are quirky and fun and I hate to put my MP3 down when I am listening (but love to listen to them more than once) With Anna Fields reading it, (she is my favorite narrator and I mourn her passing like a dear friend) it cannot be a better listening experience. I ordered "Natural Born Charmer" the day it came out.
