  • The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales

    • UNABRIDGED (21 mins)
    • By Jon Scieszka
    • Narrated By Mike Ferreri

Includes these fairly stupid tales: "Chicken Licken", "The Princess and the Bowling Ball", "The Really Ugly Duckling", "The Other Frog Prince", "Little Red Running Shorts", "Jack's Bean Problem", "Giant Story", "Jack's Story", "Cinderumpelstiltskin", "The Tortoise and the Hair", and "The Stinky Cheese Man".

Juder Kuipers says: "Had me and my kids laughing so hard!"
"My 6 yr old could not stop laughing"

I am an audible addict for adult fiction and on a whim decided try children's books as well and download this book for my daughters and I to listen to. It is a silly (in a good way) parody of well known tales, such as Little Red Riding Hood becoming Little Red Running Shorts. The narrator was perfect. As expected, it was over my 4-yr-old's head, but my 6-yr-old could not stop laughing and even I laughed out loud in places as well.

  • Buried Secrets

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Joseph Finder
    • Narrated By Holter Graham

Joseph Finder introduced Nick Heller, a “private spy” who finds out things powerful people want to keep hidden, to widespread acclaim from the critics and wild enthusiasm from the readers, in the New York Times best-selling novel Vanished. Now, in Buried Secrets, Nick Heller returns, finding himself in the middle of a life-or-death situation that’s both high-profile and intensely personal.

Amazon Customer says: "Entertaining and Riveting Listening"
    "Liked it"

If you liked Power Play, you will like this book. While I would not say this was his best - I think Paranoia was my favorite - the main character Nick Heller is fun to follow and this is fairly entertaining. There are a few twists, but they are telegraphed early and were easy to predict. Holter Grahm did his usual excellent job of reading which always adds to my enjoyment of the book. Overall, I was glad I spent the credit and would recommend it.

  • A Discovery of Witches

    • UNABRIDGED (24 hrs and 2 mins)
    • By Deborah Harkness
    • Narrated By Jennifer Ikeda
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

    Tim says: "True Blood PG13"
"I can't wait for the next book!"

This is a little like Twilight and a little like The Physic Book of Deliverance Dane, but different enough to be imaginative and interesting in its own right. It was written for adults who like literary fiction, but is also part mystery and part romance as well. Diana, a young witch determined to cut magic out of her life and make her name through academic acheivement suddenly no longer has that choice as a variety of "creatures", witches, vampires and daemons, begin to focus their collective attention on her and a manuscript she has uncovered from the achives of Oxford. Against her wishes vampire Matthew Clairmont begins to follow her, protecting her from increasing hostilities. With increasing danger and high stakes, an exciting journey begins. Although the narrator struggled a little at times with the variety of different accents, she was a perfect choice for the first person narration of Diana. I look forward to the next installment of what I've heard will be a 3 part series. I highly recommend it!

  • The Book of Lost Things

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By John Connolly
    • Narrated By Steven Crossley

High in his attic bedroom, 12-year-old David mourns the loss of his mother. He is angry and he is alone, with only the books on his shelf for company. But those books have begun to whisper to him in the darkness, and as he takes refuge in the myths and fairytales so beloved of his dead mother, he finds that the real world and the fantasy world have begun to meld. The Crooked Man has come, with his mocking smile and his enigmatic words: "Welcome, your majesty. All hail the new king."

Derek B. says: "What a great story!"
    "Absolutely loved it!!"

Set in England at the start of WWII, the 12-year-old main character, David is struggling with the death of his mother after a long debilitating illness. After his father quickly remarries and has another child, David feels abandoned and resentful. Always a reader, he turns to his books for solace and they in turn begin to talk back. He escapes into a secret world of fairy tales and embarks upon a quest to learn the truth about what really happened to his mother. This book is a mixture of coming of age story interspersed with fairy tales turned grisly. It is rare to find a book with truly creative concepts, but Connolly manages to take what could have been a fairly common format and make it unique. I will definitely be reading/listening to more of his work. I also thought the narrator was perfect for this story and added to the overall experience.

  • Mockingjay: The Final Book of The Hunger Games

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Suzanne Collins
    • Narrated By Carolyn McCormick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena live, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge....

    GS says: "Conflicting Emotions"
    "Best Series Ever"

I have never written a review before, but this series was so good I can't stop talking about it. As soon as I finished this book, I was so sad the series was over, I immediately started from the beginning. You have to start with the first book, The Hunger Games then read Catching Fire, before this book. The narrator is excellent and you are able to lose yourself in the story, fully visualizing this futuristic world and the unforgettable characters within. Although marketed as a YA book, it is equally captivating to adults. You will not regret this purchase!

  • Look Again

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Lisa Scottoline
    • Narrated By Mary Stuart Masterson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops - the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth.

    Elaine says: "Excellent Book"
    "Excellent book!"

I could not stop listening thanks to the riveting storyline and the excellent narration. I have read Lisa Scottoline's books in the past and liked it OK, but this was exceptional. Whether you have children of your own or not, you will be drawn in to Ellen's horrible search for the truth. Keep your tissues handy and be prepared for an emotional journey with lots of surprises.
