It used to be pretty easy to distinguish between the bourgeois world of capitalism and the bohemian counterculture. The bourgeois worked for corporations, wore gray, and went to church. The bohemians were artists and intellectuals. Bohemians championed the values of the liberated 1960s; the bourgeois were the enterprising yuppies of the 1980s.

He spells pretty well, but that's the highlight of this tome of stupidity. Weasel gas!

Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

What did you love best about Anansi Boys?

I like the whole danged thing. It's really well written and engaging. The way it starts out you think, oh god another 'I hate my Father' book...but it grabs you!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Anansi Boys?

    Too many to name.

Have you listened to any of Lenny Henry’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I havent' and having heard 'American Gods' with George Guidot I was worried about the narrator...but I've got to say that Lenny was perfect for this book...absolutely perfect!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sorry...I don't give away log lines.

    Any additional comments?

I've read a bunch of Gaiman books and I absolutely put this one and American Gods at the top of my list. Seriously I think I've listened to this one a dozen times...it's that entertaining.

What made the experience of listening to American Gods the most enjoyable?

Guidall really makes Gaiman's imaginative story come to life...it's the meeting of two terrific talents!

What other book might you compare American Gods to and why?

    Anansi Boys...that's way too easy.
    Another classic.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The Longmire series...he's guaranteed that I will never like the TV series. Lou P Diamond playing a 300 lb Indian? Ha, ha, ha, haaaaa!

Guidall is a pro...I'd probably enjoy listening to him read the phone book!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Get Guidall to help cast it...he's brilliant!

Spur Award-winner Craig Johnson has garnered critical acclaim for his Walt Longmire mysteries. In this riveting seventh entry, Wyoming’s Absaroka County sheriff, Walt Longmire, is pushed beyond his limits. When three hardened convicts escape FBI custody in a mountain blizzard, an armed psychopath leads them up Big Horn Mountain. As Longmire struggles to track their treacherous ascent, he’ll need all the help he can get from the tribal spirits of the towering summit.

Would you listen to Hell Is Empty again? Why?

Yes I would. I like the descriptive picture drawn by the author's narrative. I'm familiar with that neck of the woods and I enjoy his take on it.

What did you like best about this story?

It held my attention. You were a ways into it before the villain's identity became apparent.

What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?

He creates identifiable voices for the characters so you don't have to wonder who's speaking.
He has a pleasant sounding voice and an enjoyable cadence to his reading.
I believe I remember his voice on some James Lee Burke and Tony Hillerman books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No...too much to do.

    Any additional comments?

It's a good combination of author and narrator. Thank you for a job well done guys.

In 1919, Delano, Georgia, appoints its first chief of police. Honest and hardworking, the new chief is puzzled when young men start to disappear. But his investigation is ended by the fatal blast from a shotgun. Delano's second chief-of-police is no hero, yet he is also disturbed by what he sees in the missing-persons bulletins. In 1969, when Delano's third chief takes over, the unsolved disappearances still haunt the police files.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend it. Nice plot with a great setting. Very enjoyable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Watts...the racial tension was always in the background...and something he had to deal with as a given regardless of his position as Chief or what he was trying to investigate.

What about Mark Hammer’s performance did you like?

Good pace for this story. I've heard him before...always a good read.
