The story drew me in again even though it has been sometime since I read book three. I highly recommend this series. Ellen Archer does a great job narrating and the people come alive just like they did in the printed book.

It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her 17-year-old sister, Penryn, will do anything to get her back. Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel. Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl. Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival.

The story is riveting and I just couldn't put it down. After book 2 came out I listened to them back to back and will do the same when book 3 is ready.

"It' s a question of what you have to do, what you have to live with if you don't." Sheriff Walt Longmire is reading A Christmas Carol in his office on December 24th when he's interrupted by the ghost of Christmas past: a young woman with a hairline scar across her forehead and more than a few questions about Walt' s predecessor, Lucian Connally. Walt doesn' t recognize the mystery woman, but she seems to know him and claims to have something she must return to Connally.

I was unhappy with this book, having read all of the Longmire books, I feel this was just a fill in story. A nice story but not a whole 3 hr worth.

The Denver Post hails Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire mystery series as a must-read. Joining the four previous novels - all of which have been Book Sense picks - The Dark Horse puts a unique Wyoming twist on the classic British village mystery. When Longmire meets a woman jailed for her husband's death, he travels outside his usual haunts to discover the truth behind this unusual murder case.

I have enjoyed all of the series by Craig Johnson. George Guidell gives each character a voice of their own. Henry Standing Bear is my favorite and has the best comedy lines.
