Variety of stories - and narrators
Many stories. Much variety. All good.
Hard to say. Again....variety is the big word here. Certainly did not get bored.
This series of SF stories continues to excel. Hope more are coming.
Yes...and I probably will. Because it's THAT good! Worth a second listen.
Ah...really can't say because it would give too much away.
Excellent job with the many voices.
Nope...too long. Really made some car trips fly by though.
My wife and I are both big fans of the all-too-short sci-fi series, Firefly. When listening to this we both noticed a lot of similarities to that show, which may be one reason we liked it so much. However it is also quite different in many ways. In this strange universe there are also dwarves, elves and other strange creatures...a little like The Lord of the Rings characters in space! It takes a big "suspension of disbelief" to accept many things in this universe but, once you get past that, there are wonderful characters and lots of "swash-buckling" space adventure. In short, we both loved it! This is the kind of book that could easily be made into a series...and we hope it is.
Well written and "steamy"
The main guy...forget this name...deep and sexy voice.
Yes...He is one of my favorites and did his usual good job.
Whole thing was pretty good.
If you are the prudish type...stay away. Excellent short novel but the sex is pretty explicit.
One of the best.
None I can think of.
Non scenes - non fiction.
Wish I had read this when I was younger.
For people who have 20 years or more to go before retirement..this book is a gold mine!
For people close to retirement....insist that your children and grandchildren listen to this!
Cuts through all the bull. VERY insightful.
Narrator was clear and concise. Just what this kind of book needs.
Poul Anderson is one of my favorite authors but I had never heard of this novella.Glad I got it. A bit different than Anderson's usual type of story...more "Conan on another Planet" than straight sci-fi but, as usual for Anderson, well written and a good story.Narrator did a good job, too.
Conan books by Robert Howard
Yes..Does his usual good job.
Ah....I've leave that to the movie makers. Would make a good one, though.
A bit odd that a review talks about the Kindle version having a format problem. I've got it...and it doesn't. Maybe they fixed it after the review.
One of the best.
Very good narration.
I am a big fan of Philp K. Dick. However, one of the few books of his I did not like was Dr. Futurity. Now I see why. It's a "padded" version of this original with lots of stuff thrown in that gives it a rambling effect. This is a much tighter and better story. Glad I came across it.
These is an excellent collection of sci-fi stories. They are from the 50's but the "updating" mentioned in the intro must have worked well because they did not seem dated at all.
To each his own, I guess, with the narration. I thought it was excellent. Since another reviewer did not, I suggest you listen to the sample...it's almost 5 minutes long...and judge for yourself.
Very dark and spooky.
Anything by Poe
Deep voice - perfect for this story of thing. Didn't notice any kind of "breath" thing like another reviewer did. To each his own, I guess.
Horror from Space
Looking for more from this reader but haven't seen much of my type of books. Hope he does more Lovecraft soon.
Yes. Very suspenseful story. Was hard to stop listening once I got started.
The twists and turns of the plot made it a real page turner. ( if there were pages in an audiobook! ) The twist at the end was a complete surprise.
Voices he gave to the characters were very distinct.
Wanted to cry when it was over. Book really "grabbed" me.
Great story well read. Highly recommend
Hard to say...never saw the print version.
Really can't pick one...there were many.
No characters - non-fiction. Reader was very good, though.
Wow....many, many insights in this book. Hope I can apply at least a few.
This is a life changing book. Sure, the references are dated but that really doesn't matter. The ideas are what count.
Yes...Needs more than one listen to digest it all.
Backed everything it said up with real studies and statistics.
Yes...He's one of my favorite readers. Did his usual outstanding job.
Not a tidbit...a biggie..It's just that I wish ( or fantasize ) that some of our politicians..from both parties.. would read or listen to this book. It is possible to cure the jobs problem...but it takes concerned people willing to listen and cooperate...not an easy thing these days
A wonderful book with practical solutions. Getting our narcissistic politicians to listen to such common sense and yet profound advice...a whole other story.
