I purchased this with the idea that the topic would focus on the on how each studio developed its unique visual style, but much of the time is spent in reviews of specific films. The "style" issue is clouded by the author's rather negative, and sometimes sarcastic comments on most films he critiques.
"Style" is discussed more in the sense of "management style" rather than artistic style.
The art directors, the creators of the visual style, e.g. Cedric Gibbons, Van Nest Polglase, so identified with their studios, were ignored.
Not an easy "read" if you don't have a good knowledge of Wall Street lingo. Full of acronyms, a person may have to replay several times to get the meaning. Concise, but not reading for a financial "newbee".
Jim Marrs continuing effort to reveal conspiracies continues in this volume about today's financial crises. He deals with a broader scope, which includes fluoridation, and other conspiratorial theories he has already proposed. His thoughts are clearly presented and liberally supported by his sources, which cannot be reviewed in a audio version of his work. The stuff real nightmares are made of if it's true.
Jim Marrs appeals to the paranoia which is rampant in today's economic and societal upheaval. Do some of the problems which plague us date back to the days when ex(?)-Nazis came to the US during Operation Paperclip? Did these scientists bring with them the ideals of the Third Reich and do these ideals find themselves imbedded in the scientific and medical communities today?
The history and tactics of the major hedge fund innovators and managers is presented in a clearly written book. Is the hedge fund an invention of Wall Street "bad boys", or a legitimate investment strategy which is useful? The economic meltdown is not a direct result of these funds according to the author.
If people are lied to enough, they will believe as evidenced by the manner in which the Third Reich was able to conduct systematic and industrial genocide.
