I like history and outdoors. Figured this would be a great read. No such luck. Narrated as if every sentence ended with an exclamation point. Written as if each sentence was the best natural vista ever witnessed.
I still like well written histories.
The whole book. Could not get in more than 30 minutes even though stranded on an intercontinental flight.
The narrator did a great job with the story. I really enjoyed his pace and vocalizations. Some of the side stories were more interesting than the main story. King's descriptions are vivid and really are the best part of the book.
The end was clearly telegraphed. No surprises here.
I listened to the whole book and thought most of it was well told. This was the first King book i have read in a long time and while it was better than some of his other newer work, it is not as good as the old classic King prior to the two towers.
Same old poly sci stuff. Same old concepts repackaged without any genuine insight. Could not force myself to finish it.
Not by Clines. Porter, perhaps.
I still enjoy sci-fi and fantasy. But it needs to hold together.
Tried his best
Fun and creepy for the first part.
Even trapped on an international flight with little to do, this book was almost to stupid to finish.
