This book is in two parts for Audible and I'm not done with the first part and won't finish the book. Most of the reviews were great and I was excited to find a new author of the supernatural, however, after he describes every woman degradingly with emphasis on if they are fat, getting fat, or could get fat I'm disgusted. He must be a very self absorbed skinny man who has never had a weight problem and has no compassion or understanding of women, not men, who do. Well, I'll never waste my money on this jerks books again. Also, the reader is just plain boring and the book drags on and on with his droning voice. I was wanting him to just get on with it.
I loved the first two books and Ash was my favorite of the three guys. I was so looking forward to his story. What a let down and I have four friends at work that all agree with me. Two of them warned me ahead of time that I wouldn't like Burn and they were so right. This is not the Ash we met in the first two books, what a watered down limp version of this hot guy. Every time the character opened his mouth, I was like who are you and where did Ash go? In the other books he was the most jaded and he just met this girl and two seconds later he's totally fascinated and in love with her - REALLY - and so whiped! The story itself was ok, but I was just so disappointed that I had to force myself, over two long weeks, to finish it. I gave the performance higher marks, because it's not the reader's fault that Maya Banks dropped the ball.
I got this from the 1st in a series sale. I've listened to about two hours and so far I hate it. I don't know if I will even finish it. The writer just plops you down in this confusing world like you should just know what she's talking about. The two leads are awful, they are both boring and not at all sexy, romantic, fun etc... So not what I was expecting or wanted. I listen to a lot of paranormal books (Harris, Butcher, Hocking, Clare, Meyer, Collins, Harper, Ward, Briggs, Vincent, Frost etc...) and I don't think I've ever been so confussed to the point I can't enjoy what I'm hearing.
I also bought Ruthless by Anne Stuart in the same sale - maybe that.
Outside of Harlequin Romance, I didn't think they published anything this stupid. Having to hear all of his telling her obey me and you are my life now and calling her little one made me want to scream. The sex was so un-sexy and corney it was embarrising to listen to. Oh yes, let's not forget that in less then a week she knew him better then he knew himself - oh please. She is so stupid and when she needs to listen to what they are telling her to do, for her own saftey, she just does what she wants - the stupid Little One. Thankfully I got this for like $5.00 or I would be really grinding my teeth. If you like good paranormal - like J R Ward, C Harris or P Briggs - spare yourself the torture of this book.
I love Sookie - but I felt that this book was just sad and the door way to get rid of both Eric and Bill from her life. I have always felt (not that I'm happy about it) that Harris intends for Sookie to end up with Sam and that's what this book was all about starting. Everything with Alcied and Amelia was just wrong. These are two people Sookie used to be able to depend on and Harris has just made them stupid and weak. So sick of the whole Fairy storyline. Her cousin is a jerk and I don't trust the wimpy uncle. The stuff with the demon lawyer and her gran was so out of left field and not in a good way. The one bright spoot was the friendship between Pam and Soopkie.
OMG!!!!!! - the build up in the previous books for John Matthew's story was big and hard to believe it could be lived up to, but J. R. Ward did it and it lived up to all you could want it to be. That boy is sex on a stick - yum, yum, yum!
I loved the 1st 5 Mercy Thompson Series books, but hated this one. I wanted to be entertained, I didn't need or want to be preached to about how bad humans treat the earth. In addition to that thread, the whole story was just boring and depressing. Ony the parts with Stefan were any good. Was very disappointed and will think long and hard before I buy the next book.
Ok, you won't die of boredom with this book - but why anyone would think the two mains actually fall in love is beyond me. There is no passion and the "sex" is boring. In the end all I cared about was what happen between her friend and her and you didn't ever get that cleared up. Unless you have tried the above authors or Stepjanie Meyers, Patricia Briggs or Jeaniene Frost, and are all caught up on them, there are so many other books.
