Mickey Bolitar’s year can’t get much worse. After witnessing his father’s death and sending his mom to rehab, he’s forced to live with his estranged uncle Myron and switch high schools. A new school comes with new friends and new enemies, and lucky for Mickey, it also comes with a great new girlfriend, Ashley. For a while, it seems like Mickey’s train wreck of a life is finally improving - until Ashley vanishes without a trace. Unwilling to let another person walk out of his life, Mickey follows Ashley’s trail into a seedy underworld that reveals that this seemingly sweet, shy girl isn’t who she claimed to be.

  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: The Millennium Trilogy, Book 1

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

Pamela Murphy says: "COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN"

Would you consider the audio edition of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version, but I would imagine that the audio edition is better because it really brings out the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

I had several memorable moments, but I have to say the most memorable was at the end when Lisbeth throws the Elvis plaque in the trash can.

What does Simon Vance bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He gives the characters substance and brings them to life. I begin to picture how the characters look and actually started feeling for them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me anger, sad, happy and wanting more.

    Any additional comments?

I had passed over this book several times and when the movie came out, I decided to listen to the book. It started out slow, but boy did it more than make up for that first impression. I didn't want to stop listening. I never saw the movie, but the book was excellent. I can't wait to listen to the other two.
