Living in a peaceful, prosperous African-American neighborhood in Los Angeles, Mack Street is a mystery child who has somehow found a home. Discovered abandoned in an overgrown park, raised by a blunt-speaking single woman, Mack comes and goes from family to family, a boy who is surrounded by boisterous characters and yet deeply alone.

This is not typical OSC, and I have read/heard most of his fiction. This story was fascinating. The narration (character portrayals) by Willis were superb. If you want science fiction, this is not for you probably, but if you like Koontz, as I do, then you will probably enjoy this book as much as I did. This is the first title in 3 years with Audible that I have listened to twice.

Eleven years have passed since SHEVA was discovered in human DNA - a retrovirus that caused mutations in the human genome and heralded the arrival of a new wave of genetically enhanced humans. Now these changed children have reached adolescence...and face a world that is outraged about their very existence. For these special youths are also ticking time bombs that could exterminate the "old" human race...

Well written, has a diverse number of scientific topics. The narration is superb. The story-line is riveting.

From master novelist Caleb Carr comes Killing Time, a gripping tale of the enormous - and terrifying - power of the Internet. Power to manipulate. Power to alter history. Power to kill. Take a glimpse into the future - if you dare.

    Also from Carr: The Alienist.

    "Killing Time and Bandwidth"
    Overall

I have to agree with other reviewers herein. If I had read the reviews first, I would not have made the mistake of attempting to listen to this sophomoric trash. The author's accents give the superficial dialogue and flimsy characters their comic book essence. I would not recommend wasting time - or killing the bandwidth to download this.

"We must all hang together," Benjamin Franklin is reported to have said to his revolutionary peers, "or we will assuredly all hang separately." This is a sentiment that's even more appropriate, and more urgent, when you're lost between the stars in a crippled and out-of-control ship, your shipmates aren't talking to each other (and haven't for thousands of years), and you don't really exist in the first place...

Excellent concept. Fascinating - thought provoking. Intriguing. Reader was a little flat for my taste, but that may have been the point. Recommend for anyone interested in the ethos of AI.
