Rick Riordan is the best-selling author of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and the Kane Chronicles. Where does An Interview with Rick Riordan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Because it was so brief, and because I haven't read his books, the interview gave me llittle to go on in terms of choosing books to read. I would say it ranks below all of the audiobooks I have heard to date.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have lengthened it, and included excerpts from several of his stories to give listeners a sense of the range of his books.

Which character – as performed by Diana Dapito – was your favorite?

I actually don't recall that part of the interview ?? I did hear a young sounding woman interviewing Rick, but didn't realize that she was playing a role...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

I found Rick's voice easy to listen to. He is no doubt an effective speaker with student groups.

New York Times best-selling author Jennifer Chiaverini’s beloved Elm Creek Quilts series here takes listeners back to the Civil War for a powerful tale of husbands, wives, and a nation torn apart. Fervent abolitionism rules the day in 1862 Water’s Ford, Pennsylvania. So when the local men answer Mr. Lincoln’s call to arms, wives are left behind to keep the town functioning. Fortunately, the ladies of Elm Creek Valley have an ingenious plan.

If you could sum up The Union Quilters in three words, what would they be?

    Family, Roles, Fortitude

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Union Quilters?

Gerda speaking with the postmaster and realizing that he, too, has a family.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The homecoming of Charlotte and the boys

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scene where Charlotte and Gerda shared their grief, believing that Jonathan was lost.

    Any additional comments?

I enjoy Jennifer's historical base in all of her Elm Creek novels, but was looking for more information on the quilt itself ... the variety of patterns was mentioned but without detail, and the woman who chose the patterns had a very small role.

If you could sum up Your First Listen in three words, what would they be?

    Sadly amusing story

What other book might you compare Your First Listen to and why?

Nothing I've read compares to this.

What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The comfort of being read to, with my eyes closed.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Disconnected but not discouraged

    Any additional comments?

Thanks ... I was expecting a how-to for listening, mechanical tips, etc. Instead, a delightful read aloud. Memories...
