"Any interesting book about the rich."
This book provided an interesting view of the millionaire community. What is surprising is that they don't all live the lifestyles that we would assume.
Given they way the majority of millionaires live there is some lessons of financial value we could all learn.
I think my search of the new and glossy may be greatly reduced and I'll look for more value for money and second hand products which are affordable to me, not affordable to the bank.
"Scratchy Recording but Great Story"
The B-team is the first in a series of short stories by John Scalzi. This is the first I have looked at any of his work and from a Science Fiction perspective, he has married a great storyline into a descriptive futuristic environment. The story is great an leaves much room for future stories in the series to branch out into many new plot lines.
The only negative is the audio recording. William Dufris puts in a good effort in the narration but I believe the poor recording quality doesn't allow him to present his true skills.
In short I'm looking forward to the next story in the series.
"Magic, Murder and Mayhem"
I bought this book as a special as a first book from a series. It took a while to get to it but it was worth the wait. James Marsters, the Narrator is brilliant. His punctuated deliver with sighs and contextual pauses added to the book by really highlighting the emotions of the characters.
The story was a bit predictable, but enjoyable all the same. The structure of the plot was sound and simple, and it was this simplicity that made it all too obvious that was happening in the book. However, the tempo of the book and the depth of the main character redeemed the book making it a brilliant read.
I strongly recommend the read.
"A story sold in its truest fashion"
The story behind the greatest salesman is brilliant. It is Og Mandino at his best. As a self improvement writer he has encapsulated learning points into a fictional story.
I first read this as a paperback. In some ways it is more suited to that form of delivery than in an audio book. I still strongly recommend the book, but note if you find the message in the story of real value, you will end up buying the paperback as well.
"Great Science Fiction"
This story was slow moving but provided ample detail to allow the science behind the plot to be believable. This alone makes this book a recommendation for all science fiction buffs.
Probably the most important aspect was real people. No character was safe and many died in the course of the story. It meant that no one was safe from the plot.
Honor Herrington was the understandably the best character. Although, she at times she didn't sound as forceful as a leader of her stature should.
"A Classic in Audio"
This is my first free performance audio book. So it is easily the best so far.
The story of the Importance of Being Earnest is a classic in its own right. To say there is a most memorable moment without listing about 60% of the book would be wrong.
The use of multiple narrators added to this book allowing all the characters to be presented in their best way.
Well worth listening to even if it wasn't free.
"Imaginative story with a great plot"
The way in which magic is used made this book made the plot exciting and very enjoyable.
One of the characters, a farm girl had a unique and refreshing outlook on the world. Her injection into the story was by far the most enjoyable aspect.
While Fey was a refreshing character, the hard, determined and value driven Jake Sullivan was the best character in the book. He carried the plot on his back and left you with the lasting thought that this is the guy you wanted on your side.
The plot is fast moving and enough to keep you guessing. While some parts were predictable, there were other parts of the story that kept you guessing till the end.
"A Great Account of History"
The Flyers was not what I expected. The account was based on the people not the technology. It showed what could be achieved from the diaries of of people in history.
The way the book revolved about the family and the influences showed these men to be above others.
This is a book I would recommend to anyone who likes biographies or history.
"Stark, a Must for Action Sci-Fi Fans"
For any friends with interests common to me would enjoy the Science Fiction Story. While more story than Science, it keeps your attention for the long haul. While not concerned about the survivability of the main, character, you were always concerned that supporting characters might not make it to the end of the story.
The most memorable part of the story is the final offensive. The twists and turns through this battle led to a conclusion to the story that I was not expecting.
This is the first offering of Eric Summers that I have listened to. I found the narration captured the spirit and atmosphere of the story. His character portrails, were exceptional for the male characters but not as convincing for the female characters. I would love to hear him read some of George MacDonald Fraser's work.
This book was not a one sitting book for me as I can't find that amount of time. But if I had, I could have done it in one sitting.
This is a great tail of leadership and military tactics. It could have just as well been set in vietnam or Afghanistan as there is not much science in the content. But I wanted it for the action and that is what I got.A book worth listening to.
"Logic on the Global Warming debate"
The logical argument presented by Nigel Lawson is not based on opposing the views of the pro global warming movement, but by explaining the impact of what the movement is proposing and letting the listener draw their own conclusion to the validity of the argument.
If you like this book you may be interested in Professor Plimers 'Heaven and Hell.' Both books rely on science and logic to provide persuasive arguments on this topic.
I found Stephen Thorne's delivery to be well timed and very clear, whether listing at normal speed or double speed. As he reads the book,I get the feeling that Nigel words are talking directly to me.
This book made me very frustrated with the global warming religion and the impact these are having in the political world.
A must read, if you want to be aware of both sides of the debate.
