Where is Dick Hill? He's a great Harry!!
More of Jack's personal life with her first husband and more humor from Harry.
Not. Dick. Hill.
Some of the more gruesome scenes, especially ones involving a particular female character.
Average J.A. Konrath - gore, violence, dark humor.
I liked the set up of the murder. I liked the character of Yasmine, the troubled ex-supermodel and her obsessive love life with a married man. I liked her story more than the two main characters. I hated that the bad guy was kind of thrown in at the last minute. It didn't make sense after all of the investigation. I didn't feel that there was a romance or any suspense. The female lead character was never in any danger to be rescued by the investigator/love interest. I like that element in romantic suspense.
Sandra Brown is the absolute best at romantic suspense in my opinion with Nora Roberts a close second. French Silk is not a good example. I will never turn down a Sandra Brown novel.
The narration made the lead female character sound more like Scarlett O’Hara than a well respected business woman.
No, it was way too long at nearly 16 hours.
The book is dated. No cell phones or internet or updated forensics. There is an actual pay phone used. (I haven't seen one of those in a decade) The male lead was an ADA, but he was investigating the murder without any police help. It's Sandra Brown so there is lots of explicit sex.
Charming, picturesque, enjoyable.
Speed it up.
It left me with a cozy feeling, a smile of my face and a desire to read the next two in the series.
The story has a slow start before any romance gets started. There are four romances in this story of a variety of ages. As in the Virgin River series, the introduction of a character in this book is a teaser for upcoming sequels.
