"A great tale that's spoilt by a weird ending."
I loved this book right up until the last couple of chapters when the author lost the plot and introduced a truly strange twist to the plot. It's almost as if he ran out of ideas and so he came up with the most implausible ending he could find.
Disappointed :(
"Very much an in-between book :("
I was expecting a lot to be resolved in this novel having listened avidly to the 2 before it.
I was however sadly disappointed.
This is a long audio book (on par with books 1 & 2), unfortunately not a lot really happens in it.
A real shame, I expected better from Harry Turtledove.
"Fantastic!! Ringo's Best to date"
This is a must for any hardcore sci-fi buff. Loads of hidden jokes reffering to sci-fi culture such as "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot". A rivetting and imaginative story, with really good characters. Looking forward to Audible selling the 3rd installment.
"Very much a middle book"
unlike many of the Honor Harrington series, this book has no finale in it, it just fizzles out at the end. I much prefer a cliff hanger ending to a book in a series.
Also noted that Honor Harrington doesn't actually play much of a part in this book. I love this series, but I think this is the weakest book so far.
"A Refreshing and Captivating tale."
I chose this novel because I couldn't find anything else I wanted. Lucky me!! I loved this book, it was captivating. The choice of narrator was excellent. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes alternative sci-fi.
The plot is entirely believable and the characters all have their own charm and imperfections. I could go on about this book for hours, but I wouldn't want to spoil things for you.
"A little confusing to start with.. and then..."
OK I found the start of this book a little confusing, the narrative flits around like a butterfly from plotline to plotline without fully explaining who the characters are, but you get the hang of it eventually.
And then... Just when I was really getting into the book, it ended. It didnt really end with a satisfactory conclusion, or even a cliffhanger to have you wanting a sequel, it just stopped. It's as if the author was told by the publisher to hurry up and finish it. Well I for one am hoping there is a sequel. But I can only give it 3 stars because of it's ending.
"Excellent!!"
This book is amazing, I enjoyed the Shanarra series, but this is so much better. It mixes Sci-Fi with Fantasy in an original fashion, explaining the transition from our modern world to the world of Fantasy and Magic.
I bought this book to listen too on my morning commute, but unfortunately I was unable to put it away and completed it in 2 days. I hope there is a sequel.
