Matt Royal never has to look far for excitement. Excitement - and sometimes trouble - has a way of finding him first. But for this fun-loving lawyer turned beach bum, things are about to get serious. Dead serious. When his ex-wife asks for help in tracking down her stepdaughter, last seen in Matt's hometown of Longboat Key, Matt agrees to do a little searching. But what looks like the case of one missing girl turns out to be something much bigger-and much more dangerous.

Would you listen to Death of a Policeman again? Why?

Yes - I often listen to Graeme Malcolm narrations more than once. The stories are not spoiled by already knowing the ending as Hamish must always win or I am not happy!

Would you try another book from Tim Dorsey and/or Oliver Wyman?

I have all the tim Dorsey but won't purchase any more audible Dorsey with this narrator. Dorsey's books are good hard copy but this story has a different personality for serge as well as a narrator that is very different.

If you’ve listened to books by Tim Dorsey before, how does this one compare?

    not so much

Would you be willing to try another one of Oliver Wyman’s performances?

don't know - the serge voice he was trying didn't work but his timing and changes to voice for various characters is pretty good. I would have to sample a lot.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

none. I can't finish it as it is boring and I am old.

But his family members aren't the only ones who'll go to any lengths to keep Marco silent - forever.

I worried, then I got angry, then laughed and worried about the characters some more. Didn't stop listening until I finished the entire book. I now need sleep and all the other books by Jussi Adler-Olsen and narrated by Graeme Malcolm. Graeme Malcolm is one of my favorite narrators and Adler-Olsen now one of my favorite authors.

Set at the Slickrock Cafe, deep in the sandstone fins and domes of southeast Utah, this mystery will have you laughing, scared to death, and wondering when the mysterious Black Beast will strike again.

What disappointed you about The Slickrock Cafe?

The characters, conversations and story line never got together. It was not interesting

What was most disappointing about Chinle Miller’s story?

The book seemed to provide information but no story that made me want to know more. More disappointing is that there is another book in this series.

What didn’t you like about E. Roy Worle’s performance?

He seemed bored as much as I was. Most disappointing was using the Bill Crider name - I enjoy and have purchased all Bill Crider books - but the narrator made bill crider sound like Shirley Temple imitating an old man in one of the early way too cute movies. Even if he does sound like that what the h*ll was he doing in the story? This was so disappointing even at $4.95 overpriced

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    not that I could hear

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, I enjoyed the story and didn't need to listen all in one day. The story was written with enough information in each of the story lines to make it easy to remember where I stopped and what action finished just before I stopped listening. Many good stories don't have that strong a set of characters to allow for interruptions.

Would you be willing to try another book from Thomas Perry? Why or why not?

I have so many of the Thomas Perry books I will always try more!

It is 1998, the year in which America is whipped into a frenzy of prurience by the impeachment of a president, and in a small New England town, an aging classics professor, Coleman Silk, is forced to retire when his colleagues decree that he is a racist. The charge is a lie, but the real truth about Silk would have astonished even his most virulent accuser.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

It could just be that I don't like Roth's style but I would not keep people in my life that spoke so quickly and with such aggressive speech. So this is the problem. If you like this sort of book it is great. If you don't then most likely you won't finish it.

What could Phillip Roth have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

nothing. I think it is the story I don't like.

What did you like best about this story?

The story reminded me how much fun it was to read when I was 4 or 5. This story was not the old peter pan - and as an adult I really don't need to remember how confused I was that Peter was really a Mary - not that there is anything wrong with that -but no confusion here, no thinking required, just enjoy and smile.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes - I liked the suspense - I changed my mind about 'who done it' many times and was surprised again and again. The characters are different from those in all of the suspense books I've read in the last few years. Audible only has one of Cleeve's books I hope they get more! The book has a slow start but it is worth it and helped to define characters sufficient for me to get involved. After first few chapters I listened non stop for about 9 hours.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the way the characters each had assumptions or hopes concerning the other characters and how those assumptions changed and led to unusual conclusions - I liked the way she brought in surprise actions while holding true to all that she wrote of the characters from beginning to end.

Which character – as performed by Gordon Griffin – was your favorite?

    Paris of course.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    not really.

    Any additional comments?

    get more Cleeve books!!!!!!!

The community of Prosperous, Maine has always thrived when others have suffered. Its inhabitants are wealthy, its children’s future secure. It shuns outsiders. It guards its own. And at the heart of Prosperous lie the ruins of an ancient church, transported stone by stone from England centuries earlier by the founders of the town. But the death of a homeless man and the disappearance of his daughter draw the haunted, lethal private investigator Charlie Parker to Prosperous.

Would you listen to The Wolf in Winter again? Why?

Yes I will listen again. I have all of the Charlie Parker and the books intended for children. JC provides such outstanding stories that I am amazed.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wolf in Winter?

I don't want to give too much away but getting to hold a hand can be amazing.

What does Jeff Harding bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is matched to Charlie and as narrator he brings both male and female characters to life. Some characters might be overlooked by me if I only read the book. Sometimes I disagree with the voice of a character if I read before listen. In this case only Angel and Louie were a little different than I imagined them. Just as good, but different.
