Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

Pamela Murphy says: "COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN"
    "great book"
    Overall

amazing job tying in two fanstastic stories that were completely unrelated. I have never been to sweden, but would like to now. it was a little hard to get used to all the swedish names of people and places, but i got used to them quickley enough. only regret was that his sex scenes weren't more detailed. everything else was, but they were a let down. Keep up the great writing and give us more swedish thrillers.

Detective John Corey now faces his toughest assignment yet: the pursuit and capture of the world's most dangerous terrorist -- a young Arab known as "The Lion" who has baffled a federal task force and shows no sign of stopping in his quest for revenge against the American pilots who bombed Libya and killed his family.

    Patricia says: "Totally predictable"
    "Mailing it in."
    Overall

Nelson put very little thought in this one. Highly predictable. Scott Brick was fantastic as usual, but that was the only highlight of this nail-grower.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

    Joshua says: "Wonderful production!"
    "Good story, poor execution"
    Overall

The story of Dune is a good one. The attempt by the director to use these fantastic readers was poorly done. In one chapter Scott Brick would read for one character, then 5 minutes later it is a different voice reading for the same character! It was confusing in a number of cases. The readers that were assigned to each character were well done, I just wish they had stuck with it through out the book. If they had each reader stick with the same character, this would have gotten a 5 star rating.

When John Sutter's aristocratic wife killed her mafia don lover, John left America and set out in his sailboat on a three-year journey around the world, eventually settling in London. Now, 10 years later, he has come home to the Gold Coast, that stretch of land on the North Shore of Long Island that once held the greatest concentration of wealth and power in America, to attend the imminent funeral of an old family servant.

James B says: "Brilliant Conclusion to Gold Coast"

    Overall

much like the first half of the movie "old school", the first book was really really good, much like the second half of the movie "old school" it really really was.... not memorable.

plus, it is supposed to be Demille's attempt at a romance novel. There was more romance in the Up Country.

i rank will patton's reading ability right up with Scott Brick's. The story was very intriging, the writing ranks with up there with 13 Moon's or Cold Mountain. I loved it. You will not be dissapointed with this book.
