a good mystery but a bit slow at times. The end was quite good though if you can make it throught the somewhat slow beginning. This was my first PD James novel so maybe I am not used to the writing style.
I really loved the narration. It made the characters a lot more real
The story was told from the perspective of many people some slaves and some white slave owners. Really made you get into their heads and feel what they were going through
The way the narrator made each character come alive with subtle nuances
Yes when the sisters talked about ending slavery, going from town to town speaking their minds about injustice when women at that time didn't speak in public much.
a great book well narrated makes you think a lot about what it was like in Charleston in the early 1800's and how different our country is today
I thought the fast paced story line kept the reader engaged but the plot was a little too far fetched and unbelievable at times.
I figured it would end something like that. No real surprises
I guess he did a good job considering the subject matter and faced paced action of the book I was engaged but felt at times the characters sounded too similar it was hard to differentiate between them
Im sure there will be a sequel. This kind of book is set up for another one to come along with even more violence and shoot em out fast paced CIA operatives gone rogue..
A little too predictable! Reminded me of a blockbuster Hollywood movie where everything is blown up constantly and everyone is running for their lives. It was entertaining though and I did like the fact that it kept me engaged.
The narration, Stan Lee is one of my favorites. The story was a nail biter as well kept you on your toes at all times
The deep story line. If you're a Nesbo fan and have listened to all the books or even some of them you will have a interest in certain characters and what happens to them. This book takes you on a journey with those characters in a very personal way.
His narration is superb! Transforms each character so you don't even think about whose narrating ..The characters come alive on their own.
No I listen while I work ..A few hours at a time. It makes me want to keep working!
Cant wait for the next Nesbo! Im hooked
just listened to the audio version
there were so many..hard to choose. I think his time in the slum maybe
again hard to choose but I did like the spiritual talks with Cader By he had about life
No I broke it up over several weeks and listened only when I worked to savor the story bit by bit
Amazing story looking foreward to a sequel. Crazy that its a true story as well, at least most of it
A great listen! Classic Hiaasen with all the quirky characters and the crazy plot. I highly recommend it if you are a fan and even if you aren't its just a funny read.
