It challenged me to look at my life as a Christian
The Holy Spirit
The Apostle Paul
Excuse me, what's NORMAL?
this book is for believers and non-believers its for PEOPLE
Forgiving someone does not mean forgetting what they did it simply means letting go of the hurt. Joy was ready to do that but her husband left much to be desired. Society makes it hard for men and women to be just friends, but we find a unique story presented by Wilkins with a spiritual spin.
This listen really brings up some great Scriptural references to keep us not focused on being defeated but on being victorious.
The premise is to not let fear cripple you but the things you fear do it with sweaty palms and knees shaking, DO IT IN FEAR.
Becoming Mrs. Right by Sherri Lewis
Amazon Headline: Romans 8:28
Life is messy; can we ever get it right? We can’t but God can turn things around for those who love Him by intercession of the Holy Spirit.
We do what we know, and if we don’t know better how do we become better? If you are Shauntae you reach out to your girls, study Clare Huxtable and keep it moving, that is until your heart begins to speak a different language. Talk, think and act right ummm is it really important or is being who you are enough.
Take a look at life or better yet at Shauntae’ she used the characters on television to help her become who she thought she was supposed to be, and then she pretended to know the Lord. BUT you better be careful playing around with whose you are because He can certainly make you His for life when you think you’re playing only for a moment.
Becoming Mrs. Right was an outstanding read filled with forgiveness, love and growth. We don’t have to learn lessons through hardships; God's Word is for correction and reproof a theme weaved throughout the characters. It’s been a long time that I’ve read/listened to a story and after finishing I wanted to thank the author and hug him/her, this story definitely took me there. I cried, I laughed and I thanked God for LOVING me and all the Shauntae’s in the world.
Are you a Shauntae?
I enjoyed this listen, but I have to ask the author who I consider a friend why this title. I can't make the connection on my own. If you read it or listened to it help me out.
We create all kinds of perfect scenarios in our head but what unfolds is not at all perfect. Which leaves me with the question is there a "perfect" anything much less an affair.
Read the beautiful Jaqueline's story to find out.
As far as the books on leadership and growth this one ranks very high.
There are no characters in this self help book? Just lessons for the person who wants to grow
The narration was great it kept me focused on what the next thing was going to be.
I did, but I don't have the luxury of that kind of time.
Shante, Deandrea, and Misha live very different lifestyles, but they have one thing in common: they are married to successful pastors. Shante; is a successful Minister and bestselling author who receives 2 pieces of information that will change hers and Max’ life. Deandrea once a psychologist with her own practice, gives it up to support her husband’s work in the church. Finds she is struggling to keep her family together and struggling with the decision she made to support him. Misha’s exterior is soft-spoken but the battle that rages inside of her speaks volumes when let loose.
All of them are facing challenges in their personal lives and ministries. But we know God will use our own stuff to bless another, and that is exactly what He tries to do in this trio while at a First Ladies' conference.
While at the conference secrets are uncovered, judgments are passed and with each invitation from God they begin to wonder WHY? I absolutely loved this story the issues were very real and several times I laughed, cried and did a Sunday morning shout, for the characters. Three women who despite their less than perfect circumstance, realize that if they rely on each other and their faith they can watch their friendship and their lives transform into what God has ordained.
Richey tells a captivating story that takes the readers on a journey into the challenges that face these First Ladies. Companion reads which are also part of this series is Lady Preacher which is Shante Dogan’ story followed by Deandrea Simmons story in The Long Ride Home and lastly in The Veil we meet Misha Holloway. But in Sunday Morning Blues they all come together for healing, advice and renewal.
An outstanding read and turning points you won’t forget.
I think as readers we need both versions, the audio to listen to over and over until we get it. The print form allows us to mark and grow with our book marks.
Understanding that things I have thought for YEARS someone was finally saying it.
This is my first but depending on the topics it might not be my last because I do enjoy his TV talk show
Its ok for me to not give people the benefit of the doubt and that it's ok to truly see people for what they are.
That ole saying when you close one window another one opens is so true for Anise Cartier. When she finally decides to move from her past and into the future she ends up welcoming into her heart; Doctor Gregory Morgan, and I must say what a fine specimen he is. Not just in my imagination via the description of Lovely, but his deed and actions is all together LOVELY.
Their hearts connected at first glance, maybe not love but definitely a connection. Anise and Gregory’s attraction is fueled by lust and continues like a burning fire, one which easily ignites. But anything worth having doesn’t come easy and for this couple it has its ups and downs.
Gregory is in a competition for a medical research grant. The grant will make a research center possible, a dream of his since losing his father. Anise has taken up residence at Creative Space a place artist have shared ideas for upwards of 50 years. Now the lease is coming to an end and its creativity vs medicine neither wants to lose and both are very strong minded.
In the midst of this battle is it possible for love to come out on top or will the fire fizzle to ash? A Good Dose of Pleasure I believe was written in First Person Point of View and I travelled to New York and Virginia with Anise. When she described how she was feeling after being touched by Gregory I felt the heat. Ms Day did her thang with this read.
I loved listening to this story.
Looking for Trouble by Trice Hickman
Amazon Headline: Loving the Past and the Present
I’ve been keeping up with this author since 2011 I started my journey with Unexpected Interruptions and kept it going from there. These characters have truly become special to me. This is a large clan and sometimes it’s a little difficult to keep it straight. Don’t believe that it has anything to do with the author’s writing because it doesn’t. I still have to ask my sister “how is he/she related to us” (smile)
I was blessed a few years ago to be part of a community called A Chapter a Month. While in this community this is where I got to know so much about the lives of the Small family, at the helm is Grandma Allene (Isaiah’ mother).
The next generation was started by Isaiah and his wife Henrietta Small who gave birth to John, Billy and Phyllis. John went on to give birth to Victoria Small who gave birth to a gifted child named Alexandria.
Looking for Trouble fuses the past with the right here and now. Grandma Allene and Alexandria share the same gift and it is through this connection that Grandma Allene crosses time to speak to Alexandria, and to teach her about her gift. Trouble is brewing in the Small family and its going to take the natural and unnatural to stop it from boiling over into their lives.
As I got more familiar with Grandma Allene it took me to Scripture the bible talks about gifts of the Spirit and manifestations, God makes believers aware of needs that He wants to meet through them, this is what Grandma Allene taught.
Hickman does an excellent job of keeping the lines clear while managing dual narration from Alexandria’s point of view in the here and now and John’s from the past.
Outstanding story I can’t wait to read Troublemaker..
A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the author for my honest and thoughtful review.
The delivery, I was not expecting this one to be delivered in the way it was. I was surprised by the end but so happy for the delivery, because Helen got on my NERVES
Helen's growth and revenge...(sorry but I did like it Dub)
The reflection in her voice just at the right times.
I finished this book 3/2014, however Its tough for me to review this one because sometimes we as reviewers give too much away and this listen was very emotional. I had to stop listening many times and get my emotions in check. so what I will say it this. Ms. Joy did the thing with this title. You can tell even though she had demons, she tried, but sins of the past sometimes meet us at the front door.
Remember that person who just seemed hateful for no reason? Or the guy who would beat you for no reason, understanding Helen's story teaches the readers that HURT people HURT people, but discovering the truth about God's grace and mercy is something Helen will bump right into. But is Helen ready?
