Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership. In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires?

Stephenie says: "Great series. Worth every credit."
    "WOW!!! Riveting book!"

I purchased this because it was on sale. I'd never heard of the series but...it was on sale and I needed something to listen to while cleaning the house. I finished it in a day. I was absolutely riveting. Romantic, suspenseful and emotionally charged. I'll be buying the other 3, sale or not!

After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father's mantle - with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head. As the war with the Lessening Society rages on, and the threat from the Band of Bastards truly hits home, he is forced to make choices that put everything - and everyone - at risk. Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet: An easy ride was not it.

This is such a great series. I get more enthralled with each new installment. I love the characters and by this point, they are so well developed that I can't help but feel like they are people who I have a personal relationship with. I enjoyed this opportunity to step back from the war with the Lessening Society to get to know Wrath and Beth better and to begin getting to know some lesser characters.

Throughout this book, I was a little sad because, while I hadn't heard this was the last book in the series, it seemed to be heading in that direction. I was relieved when, in the end, I suddenly realized that the author had instead left things open to so many future possibilities. I can't wait to see what the next book will bring.

J.R. Ward is a master storyteller. I also enjoy her Fallen Angel series. And Jim Frangione is THE VOICE of the BDB series. He is so talented. The voices of the different characters are distinguishable and the accents he affects add dimension to the reading. These two make a great team.

Definitely worth the credit (and I'd have been willing to give two credits for it).

Students are spooked at the San Francisco School of Fine Arts, and Lily is called in to search for possible paranormal activity. In return she's been promised a trunkful of Victorian-era clothes recently discovered in a school storage closet. But Lily finds something else: the body of a wealthy patron of the school. In between running the store and seeing her new boyfriend, Max - a "mythbuster" who is uncomfortable with her witchcraft - she uses her sleuthing skills to try to solve the murder. Soon Lily senses something from the school's vintage clothes, but it's not the smell of mothballs - it's the unmistakable aura of evil intent.

This series is great. It put me a little in mind of The Hollows series by Kim Harrison (which is also fabulous if you haven't listened to it) but not so much so that it's like a copy cat. This author certainly knows how to keep you interested. I've already downloaded the third book and will probably blaze through the whole series within the week. Love it!

I loved it. Creative and suspenseful. I listened to it in a say and it ended too soon. I downloaded the second installment before the ending credits were done.

I am always sad when a good series ends. I am really glad to see this one come back. It was good to catch up with some "old friends" and get an idea of what the next generation of the breed faces. Mira and Kellen were just kids when we last heard from them and they have grown into quite a strong pair. Can't wait to see what happens next.

It just didn't seem to fit the story

While I don't think it was quite as bad as some of the previous reviewers claimed, it will certainly not make my favorites list. It did not live up to the hype in my opinion. And perhaps that is the issue for most. The expectations are simply too high.

What made the experience of listening to Lover at Last the most enjoyable?

    Great story as always.

Have you listened to any of Jim Frangione’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and it was on par.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

This is my favorite series but I was worried that I might be put off by the homosexual aspect of this installment. But J.R. ward is a master storyteller and it flowed so seamlessly that it was just a love story centered among the riveting plot of the series as a whole.

Even by vampire standards, Reaper is a loner, and his current mission to destroy a gang of rogue bloodsuckers is definitely a one-vamp job. Then fate takes a hand, and before he knows it, he's surrounded by a ragtag crew of misfit helpers: the newbie, the princess, the shape-shifter, and the human healer.

I get what some of you people are saying about the ending and it maybe being a little anti-climactic. I might have felt that way if I hadn't known that there was more. I personally thought this was well written, wrapped up well enough but left it wide open for upcoming books. I can't wait!
