In the heart of China's Sichuan province, amid the terraced hills of the Yangtze River valley, lies the remote town of Fuling. Like many other small cities in this ever-evolving country, Fuling is heading down a new path of change and growth, which came into remarkably sharp focus when Peter Hessler arrived as a Peace Corps volunteer, marking the first time in more than half a century that the city had an American resident.

Would you try another book from Peter Hessler and/or Peter Berkrot?

Hessler's writing is good, but it was difficult for me to keep with it because I did not care for
    Berkrot's voice.

In a world of conflicted loyalties, rapidly diminishing human power, and the possibility that anyone can be a spy, what's at stake is nothing less than human freedom's last hope to survive the technology revolution.

    not sure

Has Freedom (TM) turned you off from other books in this genre?

Depends. Daemon was fascinating but this book has way too much blood and guts and destruction.
