It is 1968. Lynnie, a young white woman with a developmental disability, and Homan, an African American deaf man, are locked away in an institution: the School for the Incurable and Feebleminded, and have been left to languish, forgotten. Deeply in love, they escape, and find refuge in the farmhouse of Martha, a retired schoolteacher and widow. But the couple is not alone - Lynnie has just given birth to a baby girl. When the authorities catch up to them that same night, Homan escapes into the darkness, and Lynnie is caught.

Despite the sad theme its a very predictable love story. The novel starts out pretty intense and with some surprising twists but the further it progresses the more it levels out to a story with happy end.
An extra star for the excellent narration: well done!

I enjoyed the last instalment of the series even more than the first one. I skipped the second book due to the reviews here and which obviously is really not necessary to be read. Again, the narrative style of using two characters helps a lot to keep the - admittedly simple romantic story - interesting.
    Narration is well done.

All reporter Sadie Barton wants is to be taken seriously and judged on her own merits, not her stepfather's money. She and her actress sister left Wisconsin to get out from under his controlling thumb and leave behind the malicious whispers that they're no better than their gold-digging mother. But California isn't all sun and fun, and paying the rent while trying to prove herself is harder than she ever imagined. about Sadie drew self-made millionaire Zach Robinson - and it wasn't just the amazing kiss they shared as impromptu actors in his company's commercial....

Thin plot, poor narration style and a weak narrator: I was happy when the book finally ended. Can’t recommend this one.

Little did she know the mysterious stranger is none other than CEO and millionaire Connor Black.

However, at times the female lead character got on my nerves, she did some childish things. That made him the more so a loveable hero though.
Narration is OK but not outstanding.

Mary Alice Brannigan doesn’t believe in the supernatural. Nor does she expect to find that Dreamland, the decaying amusement park she’s been hired to restore, is a prison for the five Untouchables, the most powerful demons in the history of the world. Plus, there’s a guy she’s falling hard for, and there’s something about him that’s not quite right.

Somewhat loveless assortment of characters in a pretty simple plot. Occasionally entertaining, however, in parts also long-winded. - It is actually a “wild ride,” unfortunately not that kind I had expected.
Narration is the better part of this audio book.
